TFS DragonBall Z Abridged

And Kid Buu kinda.

Even that case isn't a true death, since he does it without malice at the end, thanks him for the fight and makes a request to the God of the dead to allow him be reborn.

Well... he killed Frieza and King Kold in Future Trunks's timeline (God I would have loved to have seen that as part of the history of trunks special), and sort of killed Buu.

If you look at his time as a kid he's pretty ruthless, though. I'm pretty sure he killed most of the red ribbon grunts that got in his way since he was always making graves for them after beating them, lbowing up their planes, etc. Also killed most of the officers like yellow and black that he fought that didnt't get killed by another RR member first.

That's what I said. He was far more hotheaded as a kid and by Z he doesn't kill anyone.

Since he never had to kill Frieza and Kold, we can still accurately say he never killed anyone. In fact, I'd even wager he'd find a way to dispose of them non lethally, though he'd probably be forced to in the end.

Knowing Toriyama, he'd probably have Goku trash Freeza's mecha body, tell him to leave Earth, and then Vegeta would swoop in for the kill. Then Kold would be forced away from the planet (he's slightly smarter than Freiza at times) and retreat to fight another day.

Well you would have to add in the ragefits that certain people would have upon seeing "Tien" instead of "Tenshinhan" or "SS" instead of "SSJ". You know, the "purists" who INSIST on using the romanized spellings for everything and think that anything other the JP version subbed is an affront to all existence.
I'm not gonna lie. I still kind of cringe whenever I see it abreviated "SSJ." You irredeemable weeaboos and your Japanese honorifics. :p

The one that annoys me the most is Kuririn.

I'm pretty sure I've seen people on this very board try to push that bullshit.

It's fucking Krillin, god dammit.

Yeah i have seen a few abriged series the best ones are mainly yu gi oh and naruto but this one have decidedly taken the thrown which isn't much of a surprise actually seeing as its from a collaboration of the all stars in the abridged making scene just freaking funny Nappa is my favorite character in this series.

Ep 1

Ep 2

Yea nappa was my favourite character as well. I love it when he becomes ghost nappa and begins to haunt Vegeta as he's flying in space. Also the way the portrayed Mr. Popo scares me, he's so....terrifying. And the guy that voices Goku is just amazing, he just really sounds confused, stupid, and oblivious amazing series in my opinion.

dbz abridged doesn't really get going until episode 5. it's not so shaky at that point.

i think if you wanted to get people who don't care about dbz into the abridged series (because the story holds up really well and it's pretty funny), then maybe the dbz kai abridged + starting at episode 11 works too.

Nah because than you'll mis one of the best jokes they ever did.

This is Vegeta and he was a prison bitch
And the part with the cell phone right after that.

I think the reason people insisted on the original names for a while is because for the people who were into DBZ before it came on US TV, that's just what they called those things. I try to put myself in that position, and I would probably be bothered too about name changes and stuff.

Pretty much. Kids these days don't remember when DBZ ending when Goku reached Namek, and heavily edited up until that point (Tien's arm will grow back wtf?). Dubious bootleg subtitles were the only way to see the series or movies.

I'm not even sure how some of the name are 'officially' spelled. I've seen Vegita, Vegeta, Bejita, Vegeeta, and more.

But the thing is, all these years, "SS" is actually correct because "-jin" is not another word, just a suffix.
Not actually understanding Japanese and what a translation is are some of the things that makes their insistence on using it funny.

I always wondered if it was Realm King Fist or World King Fist?
Either work, really.

At any rate, some of the anti-weeaboo talk has become brazenly hypocritical and is really less about language or understandability and more about looking cool. Things have names and it's not really the height of nerddom to refer to them as such, unless you also roll your eyes at stuff like "Tour de France". Moreover, when it comes to acronyms in English there aren't any rigid rules, because the resultIng acronym is what's important and words get included or skipped accordingly. "SSJ" is less ambiguous than something like "SS" which can mean many things including Nazis, while being equally valid.

The Most Dangerous Yes Man
This thread now reminds me of this.

Im looking for a bento (that's japanese for lunch) box, it cant be pinku (thats japanese for pink) or any girl color. It has to be of 2 or more kotoba (thats japanese for 2 compartments) and has be be chibi(small) sized. And has to be really kawaii (cute). Also It has to be about 10-20 bux. And you have to post pics of it first (i want to make sure it's kawaii [cute]). And it would be nice if it came with matching chopstick holder (WITH chopsticks). OH! and it CANNOT have any cartoon pictures, or be made out of plastic. It has to be made of ceramic, or something like that. Also it would be nice if it was made in japan. and not in china or corea (korea) or whatever. I have found a bento box similar to the one im describing in e-bay, but it was 1 kotoba, and i dont want my gohan (rice) to touch my other things (it can get wet and i would not like that, plus 2 compartments looks more kawaii)

When it comes to generic nouns, you definitely need a pretty good reason to leave something untranslated. Not that it's out of the question, because English is a promiscuous language to begin with, but when there's already a word that works perfectly fine you should really just use that word. Proper nouns are a different subject.

Also, from that panel it sounds like the voice who did Dodoria and Ginyu will be doing Android 17 and Mr. Satan/Hercule in the Cell saga.

It's God, not Kami. Gosh.

I always used SSJ because it was everywhere when I was a kid (mostly Japanese DBZ merchandise with romanized terms), and I always associated "SS" with boats. I guess it's technically correct... but Goku ain't a boat son.

I type out SSJ because SS just looks "naked".

Well that and because that's how I saw it spelled everywhere on the internet back then and it just stuck it with me.

I got my brother into the series since he was also nostalgic for DBZ like I was. The jump in the quality of writing when they get to the Namek saga is just insane.

the quality overall is a lot better. i love the music and sound effects they use, and i hate that we got the shitty falconer guy. the overdramatic music was pretty awesome.

but i'm going back and seeing new stuff. like when goku says, 'imma deck you in the schnoz!' and frieza drops vegeta and says, 'im sorry... that's a new one,' i hadn't connected it to how frieza counts off phrases he's heard many times before until i rewatched it. good stuff.

I just made that connection the other day.

And yes, this series jumps dramatically once they hit Namek. Go back and watch the first 5 or so episodes. For every good joke there's at least one cringer. Episode... I want to say 3 or 4... is probably the only just plain bad episode of DBZA because it relies on that bane of Internet comedy: "'Wacky' voices and repeating shit makes things funny!"

EDIT: Oh and someone says something strange and the response is someone else saying "Oooooooooookaaaaaaaaaay" like they're confused! that's funny right guys
