The Order: 1886 | The Evolution of the Half-Breeds

It almost sounded like they were saying you get to turn into a Lycan... That'd be cool.

Otherwise this game seems entirely dull. I wish their demo hadn't been an on-rails shooter. Maybe I'd be more excited for it if I knew there was actually more of a game to it.

The amount posts I have seen of people that still don't realise the game is actually a cover shooter in the same vein as Gears of War. Earlier footage clearly showed this, and then a second demo at E3 showed this.

I am not saying they should take an hour (even that is beyond stupid), they should just be always monster like.

But damn, don't you understand what I am trying to say ? I am trying to say that they said "make them look real". Well then, if something turns into a monster in a couple of seconds then it just CAN'T look real, something like that doesn't make sense from a biological view.

They said they want to make them look like they could actually exist outside of fiction.

No transformation is the only solution

then they shouldn't have said that they are focusing on making them look realistic.

The interface needs to be blended better with the games look, the reticle even though easy to see, cheapens the way the game looks and feels, same with the weapon and ammo counter.

Just realized how badly executed that whole cutscene with Galahad thrown through the glass is.

The half-breed takes ages to enter the room after, then when he does, he sniffs the patch of blood and says he knows the guy is in there? Well no shit, you just threw him in there, lol.
Well, I'm guessing the whole point is that they are intelligent. If it wanted to kill Gallahad quickly it could. But it enjoys making the "lesser beings" squirm and hide, they enjoy the hunt and making the human feel helpless or have a false sense of an upper hand.

This is my only beef with the game so far. I agree that the UI needs to be more subtle.

Looks absolutely stunning, and the art, visual style and period is right up my street.

Now if only I could get the US special edition version in the UK!

Opposite.. werewolves have increased my interest.

Now the game doesn't sound like another cover shooter, but this one is set in Victorian england.

Makes the gameplay more interesting than shooting dudes behind cover.

This is not just a cover shooter, its a story driven thriller experience with third person shooter mechanics along with unique elements to make it more suitable for this game like a cinematic experience without cutscenes and expects something from us all the time to interact in some way for the game to progress.

I'm really excited and going to get Collector edition.

They said they want to make them look like they could actually exist outside of fiction.

They wanted to avoid the more comical view of werewolves. Something that could believably live in the universe of the game - which happens to be a much more realistic universe. They have certainly succeeded at this.

As for the transformation, going from human mesh to an entirely different one accurately in an anatomical sense is pretty impressive. Animating all the parts to do as much would be one hell of a task, and it's pretty clear they've done a great job of making it look believable. Furthermore, they're doing this at real-time, meaning these transformations could potentially happen during any part of the game, and not forced into a cutscene. Having that visual transformation from a human gives the werewolf that extra bit of humanity and intelligence, as they described.

I think you're taking what the devs are saying way too literally. I think they're taking a similar approach to how ND took on the biology in the last of us, clearly a lot of that is impossible, but the way they crafted the biology of the transformation was well thought out and grounded in what could be a believable process, which led a lot of people to think, 'yeah, i could buy thay, if it were to happen, that seems to make sense.'

Same thing here, are large part of what makes these types of monsters interesting is the process of transformation, and if it were to be real they needed the process to be grounded in something that you could believe, not something necessarily that is actually real. Having no transformation seems pretty dull and takes away a lot of interesting gameplay and story scenarios.

They have to transform, otherwise they aren't werewolves.

Then they shouldn't say that they are making the so that they could be met in real life. I have no trouble with science fiction or this game, it is actually the reason why I bought PS4, but this statement is just ridiculous.

But in The Last of Us it is specifically said that these mutations take time (years) and they can't turn into human and monster instantly.

They really need to show more of this game. I'm not buying into their world because they refuse to show it. Give me an unedited 15 minute gameplay segment that isn't mostly cutscene.

I think it just needs opacity settings for the weapon/ammo and aiming cursor.

They could have an option for putting the weapon/ammo display in the window box area too I suppose.

Bro good lord relax.
They just mean from an anatomical design they wanted the creature to still be easily identifiable as a human.

It sounded to me like you would be fighting transforming enemies. Like maybe there would be a group of half breeds where a sniper stands back and the warewolves try to force you from cover.

That could be cool.

I am perfectly relaxed, I am just debating my point, I am not insulting anyone or anything.
I guess I must have misunderstood their position then, thank you for your clarification.

Game looks amazing.

Goung to be a sensory feast. And if people can love MGS with its half-day cutscenes we can allow this game cinematic freedom as well. Not every game is Call of Duty. If you want to have a richly detailed story world, that's going to require cinematics or text blocks.

My interest in this game is slowly rising... but it's not there just yet.

That blend/morph into a lycan actually sounds really impressive if they do it in one shot like they showed.

If someone wanted a character to "look "like a real human, does that mean every attributes have to be real? If someone wanted a backstory to be believable, does that mean no character can have any powers especially if its based on a fiction? That is what you are implying. Just because they wanted a character to have a reallistic background and a realistic characteristic (to heighten the story), doesn't mean they still cant make a fantasy game... Have you never watched or plays games like this? Every story tellers, tries to make their stories more believable and real to the reader, even when they are telling a story based on a fantasy.

Have they shown new gameplay during E3?

They showed a heavily scripted sequence where the main character barely interacts with the werewolf by shooting it in a hallway while it doesn't react to being shot. The graphics were amazing but it didn't inspire confidence in the shooting gameplay for many people.

Some of that footage was in this new video.

I really like the grounded, realistic look for the half-breeds. It's suitably horrifying.

Also, the kickback on that assault rifle at the end was so sexy. Gunplay is looking to be great.

The werewolf look is awesome! So scary. I don't know about gameplay but this might turn into a very very creepy game, which is been a while since I don't play a game like that.

Good point, the HUD should have less on it for sure, drop the icon and turn the bar/rounds section into a small sectioned bar.

Also the reticle needs to be less "clinical" maybe a small oval with the inner slightly opaque than the rest as it does feel to heavy on the image.

What??? It is a WEREWOLF man, they don't exist outside of fantasy, they are trying to create a more based in what would be believable rather than changing shape into a wolf form they are an exaggerated, human form kinda like there namesake "half_breed".

Imagine an NBA player with lots of hair and teeth!

I understand their position now, I just got confused by their statement that they want "the monster to look real" which I misunderstood and thought that they meant that this could be a creature from our world

I really don't know what is and isn't in this game anymore.

Originally the backstory said that their were a tot of half breeds like over 5 are they holding more for the future to reveal or are they saving those for future games. I guess we won't really know until later. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on this

I'm starting to really worry about destruction physic puzzles and large crowds. They still haven't shown the former and for the later we haven't seen more than 8 npcs on scene at once if that.

Thia game is confusing.

From a technical standpoint that was a really interesting video. Enjoyed watching it, good on RAD for not cutting camera away and creating a model that can be transformed fully...
Agree with the designer, the intelligence makes them WAY more scary,,,,

Game looks amazing.
But they really need to release a LONG gameplay video. What is the total amount of gameplay we have seen so far, 5 mins? :/
I am liking what I see so far, but I need so see MOAR.
