The Order: 1886 | The Evolution of the Half-Breeds

But damn, don't you understand what I am trying to say ? I am trying to say that they said "make them look real". Well then, if something turns into a monster in a couple of seconds then it just CAN'T look real, something like that doesn't make sense from a biological view.

They said they want to make them look like they could actually exist outside of fiction.
They make them seem real. Since they are fictional, anything they do is actually making they seem real. Even if the half breeds turned to stick figures

I don't like The Order's werewolves' head, they should look more like wolves imho.

I'm still getting the game though, I just wish they fixed the heads, which feel just wrong to me
The design they have fits in with the animalistic yet human dichotomy they're going for.

Let's say there were real werewolves and they transformed in a few seconds. Scientists got a hold of one and studied it thoroughly in order to get to the bottom of this nonsensical rapid transformation. The scientists found that it made perfect biological sense due to the nature of werewolf biology, biology which is quite extraordinary compared to what was known before.
tl;dr they're werewolves.
But hey, if only they were monsters without any transformation, that would be so plausible - much immersion - such reality.

Yup. I think it looks great and is a pretty unique look instead of the stereotypical full-on wolf head on bipedals. The more half human part makes it look all the more creepy. They can also talk so the long snout would have made it very difficult, not to mention getting the facial expressions to even look natural and more human-like with a protruding mouth.

As a huge horror fan. This got more interested in the game. Somewhere in the "lets make monsters love interest" You saw lycan's and werewolves start getting mixed in with Native American shape shifter lore. With the obvious that one is more noble then the other.

But werewolves represented to many the savage primal core of the human. Vikings called them Berserkers. (A term still used in the military today) I love that they went with that lycan route. And tho I wished they were more werewolf then lycan (Dogs Solders werewolves) It refreshing step for the creature.

I don't care how other may or may not feel about this game! This is one of my most anticipated games of 2015! I'm more stoked for The Order 1886, than I am for Batman Arkham Kinght.

Well in The Order 1886, they're dealing with half breeds. So their appearance will be more humanoid, as oppose to full on Werewolf. But what do I know, there may be some full breeds Lycans in this game as well. *fingers crossed* :)

It seems that, generally, people who played the game at E3 are more positive about it than those who've just watched videos.

Guess who's judgement I'm more inclined to believe?

Game looks amaze balls - even in comparison to the U4 trailer in places. They've nailed the material textures far better than ND in the trailer IMO.

Amazing how passing judgement on the gameplay of a game without actually playing it keeps reoccuring. Same with Destiny. Once the lot of us got our hands on it within the PS4 Alpha, impressions changed incredibly fast when leading up to E3 and during E3 the general consensus was, " looks generic " , " looks boring " . Sounds familiar

The difference between them is Destiny looked boring. The Order looks movie. At this point I need to see a 30 minute stretch of uninterrupted gameplay to get back on the positive side of the hype scale. The E3 demo was.........nah.

I always thought half-breed was a racial slur for mixed-race people...
Wait, it still is. :(

Better tell J.K. Rowling!

I guess they could've used the word hybrids instead, but I have the feeling it's meant to be derogatory towards Lycans. With any luck we'll get some intriguing narrative (seeing as they are just as intelligent as humans).

I'm really interested in where they take the story, it seems they've chosen the right era for a nice gripping tale filled with atmosphere, great weapons and worthy adversaries. Seems like the story on either side could be a worthy experience.

I can't speak to the Order--it does look poor from everything they've shown so far--but people who describe things as generic are generally very unintelligent.

like a werewolf

This is kinda funny, in a sense, because your idea of what a werewolf looks like, is simply based on someone else's idea of what a werewolf looks like, since they don't really exist.

So you are basically saying, "I dont like these cause they don't look like what I think they should look like based on old black and white movies and other forms of entertainment."

You know I am just busting your chops! :) However, I like they way they look in The Order!

I just love how the werewolves look. they remind me of the werewolves and half-breeds from the underworld movies. so pumped for this game.

I love the design really, and I also like the fact that they are intelligent.

Agreed.

I think the game looks fantastic.

Yeah, I can't wait to play this.

I'm assuming "full breeds" would just look like one of the following:

Full Breed A:

Full Breed B:

Conceptually, visually, and audio-wise I like the half-breeds (and the game). However, I'm still concerned about the gameplay execution of this title. RAD better have a good showing soon at some point and display what the appeal of this game is beyond the setting/premise.

It almost sounded like they were saying you get to turn into a Lycan... That'd be cool.

Otherwise this game seems entirely dull. I wish their demo hadn't been an on-rails shooter. Maybe I'd be more excited for it if I knew there was actually more of a game to it.

Do you honestly think the game will be just that demo looped over and over for hours and then the game ends. Seriously do you really want the whole game spoiled for you 8 months out? I seriously don't understand this attitude these days. There are still plenty of time to show stuff and even then I hope they don't show too much. Seems like a story driven game. If the story they talked about doesn't interest you yet then I don't know what will. Maybe another COD or Battlefield is more up your alley. you know exactly what you are getting then.

IMO I think the story and mood they are setting sounds fantastic. Plus I've never had a problem with tps. There have been plenty of great games over the years that were tps game on all platforms so I have no clue when this sentiment started that tps games are dull. So now fps and tps are both hated on. what should we be playing then, 4thps? 2ndps? Nothing but platformers and side scrollers?

A few things about the lycans and The Order, and the possibility of morphing creatures...

The Black Water is said to make those who take it 'less human'. Maybe the more they avoid death, the more 'abdead' (vampires are abdead not undead according to China Meilville's New Crobuzon books) they become, maybe becoming vampiric?

There seems to be a class-based element to this - are The Order fighting on behalf of vampires to keep the lycans (and this lycan appears to morph from one of the republicans/rebels they're fighting at the start) oppressed?

Isabeau has a big-ass claw mark on her neck that seemingly the Black Water couldn't heal - maybe she has to drink it to stave off the transformation?

There has been so much negativity towards this game here, however I was and am still very much looking forward to this game. Visuals are mind blowing and It oozes atmosphere. I think it will be a great ride imo. We will see I guess.

Can you point out a website or two that was clearly positive? Everyone I know who had a Sony appointment at E3 wasn't too thrilled about what they played.

I initially disliked it. I thought it was too human-ish and not enough werewolf on the face.

But then I look back and realised that the design was memorable and works as a horror interpretation of a werewolf. I wouldn't really mistake The Order lycans for your regular werewolf design, yet it's clearly based on that foundation.

Whereas a full-blown werewolf design would had just been... generic because every other media has already diluted the design expectations of werewolves.

What i think is really lacking from the gameplay is gun feedback. Now it just seems you are firing blanks at the enemy. I want to see his skin tear and see him bleeding. I think The Last of Us really nailed this part the weapon sounds and gore were fantastic.

Normal guns aren't supposed to have any effect on the werewolves. You'll have to find another way to kill them.
