Prime Trilogy is tempting but I'll probably pass because I've already played the original games and 480p makes me sad.

Didn't see it posted yet, here are the other titles shown in the EU Direct:

Can you just get a regular Wii nunchuk and plug it in? You don't need a special Wii U one or anything?
SMG2 is up on the EU eShop. Can someone confirm what it has/doesn't have in terms of features? I'm really tempted to buy it, since I have SMG1 on disc but I could never find an affordable copy of SMG2.

I wonder if it's due to the fact that SMG1 is still in stores. I see the Nintendo Selects version at Target all the time.Great idea in part of Nintendo, especially since they run natively on Wii hardware inside the Wii U (albeit it does mean it will obviously also be at its original resolution) meaning no wasted resources in porting the games. Too bad it's SMG2 instead of SMG1 though.

So for those with questions, this is what I believe it is;
- Direct ports of Wii games to Wii U in digital eShop format.
- Bootable from the main Wii U menu, avoiding having to activate Wii compatibility mode.
- Standard 480p resolution as per original hardware. Games are not rendered higher.
- Wii U GamePad compatibility for titles that had Wii classic controller support. Wii Remote specific titles will not be GamePad compatible.
In short, they're more or less direct ports. That's it. They are not rendered at a higher resolution. They do not have Wii Remote controls hacked to the GamePad. They are as-is, just in digital format, bootable from the Wii U menu, and in the case where Classic Controller was compatible use of the GamePad in its place.
meh... seriously how hard would it have been to do a simple HD upgrade? sometimes Nintendo baffles me.
I bought Galaxy 2 simply for the fact I happen to have a Wii Mote and Nunchuck on hand. No support for Gamepad is just fucking lazy
Is it possible to play SMG2 without the wiimote sensor bar?
...this could be a megaton for me.
Hated the Wii-mote controls in Prime 3. I've replayed Prime 1 so much I lost track and replayed Prime 2 at least 4 or 5 times, but couldn't replay Prime 3 a single time. I mean, the fact that it's the weakest of the 3 didn't help, but it still had some cool moments that I wanted to replay. I tried to do so and made it to the first Leviathan seed boss (the one with the big red targets or something) and just quit. Couldn't take the annoying controls annoy more. The waggle roll Wii-mote controls in DKC Returns sucked too.
Might have to rebuy these for Gamepad playability. Ya got me, Nintendo.
Will Metroid Prime be updated to use the Nintendo Network instead of the dead WiFi? Otherwise there's some (minor) features you can't access.
That's just what they called Return to Dreamland in Europe.Wait, Kirby's Adventure Wii? Is that supposed to be Return to Dreamland, or was it an exclusive Kirby game released in Europe that's a remake of the NES game, 'Kirby's Adventure'?
There aren't any Wii U nunchucks or remotes.
There are just Wii Remotes and Nunchucks.
It will likely be bi-linear filtered. While the game is 480p, it will at least go through a proper upscaler in the system instead of relying on most TVs crappy ones.
Will we need that TV sensor bar thing to play these too? Or just Wii-mote + nunchuk?

That's great!Well damn, I said I would buy a Wii U when Nintendo added Wii digital support. Guess I gotta put my money where my mouth is.
Sensor bar is required if it uses the pointer, wiiremote needs the leds to determine the pointer position.
I want to believe all those games will come here without much hassle but it's NoA so who knows. They all have US releases.Kirby Return to Dreamland would be another huge get for me if it's released in the US.

The gamepad has a sensor bar built into it, and I know there's a way to make it work in Wii mode, but dunno if it'll apply for these releases.

considering the "sensor bar" is just two IR LEDs, I "believe" they are on by default on the game pad. I guess just stand your game pad up and point your wiimote at it to see.

It's just a Wii Remote/Nunchuck that came in a rebranded box.
Disc wii games are still not compatible with the gamepad?
cool thing with the digital releases though

EDIT: Looks like we'll need it. GG Nintendo, try again.

Playing with the wiiremote sideways is the way to playWait...so Even punchout won't work with the gamepad? That's fucking stupid.
