*puts on tinfoil hat* That's what they want, you're not nearly preparing as much against an opponent you just convincingly beat than one that just beat you.
When was the last time we've seen them in a serious competition against each other? IIRC that was the Regional Championship where C9 soundly beat NVT.
That's all fair and all part of the image Dunk and C9 want to portray. But at a certain point you gotta get some W's instead of L's, don't you think? Cause it's been a lot of L's to everyone the past month or so.
Serious competition or not, they have the best roster in NA according to them and most observers, yes? They should be able to brute force wins in NA just like they had in every other competition (sans one) for half a year don't you think? Whether they prepared for specific teams or not IMO.
Dunktrain wasn't even beat up it took them till the 3rd qualifier for Summer Regional #1.
Dunktrain always plays that shit though. He thinks he's the most clever mfer in the land. What else is he supposed to say? "We tore up boyz." They knew they'd qualify. All of the wheels being wobbly makes what happens after they qualify a lot more questionable than we would have ever expected a few months back, though, when they were clear favorites with no one touching them.
Dignitas played awfully barely more than a week ago, lost to Fnatic and just shat on everyone in EU. The games are meaningless the drafts are wonky, players play like shit,... So long as you can list 4 teams that could beat you in qualifier #3 they will continue to only be worth time.
I don't think you can compare what happens with C9 and NA to really anyone in EU. EU has been a mess since Road to Blizzcon last year. The only sure constant is that when a real LAN event happens, Dignitas wins. Beyond that, it's a shit show and a gamble on who will be playing, what team they'll be playing on, and who will win.
C9 won everything in NA on sunny and cloudy days since the Town Hall Invitational last year. Like not even close 99% of the time, til they stumbled at Heroes Rising. Then right back to dominating again. Now, though? Just limping along. I feel like it's pretty fair to question what's changed and what's going on considering the somewhat unpopular roster change + what we know about their lack of practice + them getting outdrafted + the decision making and throws. Like it's not just one aspect of their game that's suffering, it's everything.
EDIT: It's also possible that all of their struggles are simply due to NA catching up to them. Maybe they are just plain getting outworked, I dunno. But I find it hard to brush off. If I was Jack I'd be like WTF Dunk. It's been a rough month for a team held in such high esteem.
