First tragedy, then farce.
The (gay) innkeeper at the B&B I stay in in Asheville went HAM this morning.

He was talking about how the slaves that built the house (it's antebellum) weren't allowed inside of it. And that he invited the ancestors of the slaves who built it to come whenever they wanted to, because they owned the house more than the rich family who had it built. And said we don't tell people who is allowed where in America anymore and then just went nuts tearing down HB2 as unamerican.

Pissed some Deplorables right the fuck off. It was fucking amazing.

Holy fuck, how did I miss this?

Trump Says Plan to End Climate Spending Would Save $100B

Donald Trump says he would save $100 billion over eight years by cutting all federal climate change spending—a sum his campaign says would be achieved by eliminating domestic and international climate programs.

“We’re going to put America first. That includes canceling billions in climate change spending for the United Nations, a number Hillary wants to increase, and instead use that money to provide for American infrastructure including clean water, clean air and safety,” the Republican presidential candidate said Oct. 31 at a rally in Warren, Mich. “We’re giving away billions and billions and billions of dollars,” he said.

In a policy statement from his campaign on the same day, “New Deal for Black America,” Trump said he would “cancel all wasteful climate change spending” under the Obama administration and plans by Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, a sum that Trump said would total $100 billion over eight years.

this is from yesterday: http://kjzz.org/content/391297/us-appeals-court-blocks-arizona-ban-groups-collecting-ballots

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Friday that Arizona can’t enforce a state law this election that criminalizes turning in another person's early ballot. The ruling is a victory for the Democratic Party.

Unless the U.S. Supreme Court intervenes, the ruling clears the way for political campaigners to go door to door, collecting and turning in ballots that voters had not mailed back in time.

seems like the AZ SC overruled the appeals court

edit- SCOTUS overrtuled, not the AZ SC

Is it wrong to be wary of Clinton's supreme court picks?

um...yes?

Unless the Democrats manage to get a majority, she'll probably nominate some more milquetoast moderates like Merrick Garland. Judges that are more staunchly left-wing would probably be passed over.

Garland isn't even on the bench yet. We have no idea how he would actually vote. But thinking ANYONE is going to be packing the court with left wing activists is idiocy. They still have to get past the senate. No matter who controls it- no senator wants to have a supreme court nomination coming back to haunt them at election time. You'd get a moderate either way.

After her experience with insurgent candidates this time around, I'm skeptical she'll push for campaign finance reform to heavily.

The vast majority of clinton's funding 71%- came from individual donors- both in 08 and 16. Campaign finance reform wouldn't affect her at all. Why do you assume she wouldn't push for it? Campaign finance helps democrats across the board, which she would need to pass her agenda.

If the Democrats don't get a majority in the senate there's almost no chance that anyone to the left of Garland would get approved so why put that on Clinton? The options would be a moderate or the continued 4-4 deadlock.

My mom and I managed to make calls for about two and a half hours. I even talked slash bribed the fiance to make calls for about 30 minutes. Youngest kiddo got in on it too, since old women love talking to kids.

Just had two high school kids canvass my street for Hillary. We got them lunch for their hard work. Plus, fiance and I are renting a car Monday to drive some people to the polls. Might keep the kiddos home so they can help my mom phone bank, especially if she decides to go down to the Dem office.

Folks gettin' greedy and losing sight of the big picture hoping for Kill Shots.

Go back to 2013 and ask any activist, Socialist, Communist, ANTIFA, or Green Peace activist whether they would trade Garland for Scalia, and see how fast they drop to their knees and pray to Gaia Marx

This is an old Republican trick. Basically what they do is they pass a law in a Republican led state, whether that about third party ballot collecting, or the number of polling places, or voter rolls or whatever. They pass those laws early in an election year but not early enough to where you can have it successfully challenged and reverted.

So basically, these laws are challenged and if it gets late enough in the year, especially this close to the election, SCOTUS will simply say "you don't have enough time to change it, the law stands for now". And that's how they get away with that shit.

Hope lives!!

Seriously, has there ever been a more invisible Press Secretary/Communications Director than Hope?

glad to see good weather in North Carolina, Tuesday is said to be a hotter day than seasonal normals across the country. Good weather, good turnout

So how long before results start coming in? Do we actually have to wait until the 8th?

Other than some early vote data by party affiliation, the next indicator we will have is exit polls on 11/8 around 4pm (which may be wildly wrong but will be obsessed over in here) and then real votes once polls start closing at 7pm EST. There is also the experimental votecastr.us or whatever that will also probably be totally wrong but will drive us crazy.

Oh, there is Dixville Notch at midnight.

I was wondering who that was

Robby Mook: "NEW Coalition","We are up in FL by 170k", Latino vote increased 130%, AA turnout up 22%

In a conference call with reporters, Clinton campaign manager Robbie Mook announced an early voting turnout record. At least 40% of voters in battleground states are turning out early.

In Florida, more registered Democrats than Republicans have turned out to vote early or by mail. The Clinton camp believes that they are winning Florida by 170,000 ballots. In North Carolina, there has been a 16% increase in early voting, and in Nevada more than 40% early voted.

According to Mook, Clinton strategy has been to turn out voters who didn’t vote in previous elections.

What are the body blows to keep that fuck face out of your guy's White House, where it's actually possible for Hillary to emerge victorious? A Trump win is unlikely already but you don't stop a job until you finish it.

Florida is the big one, and I imagine Nevada can do some damage (but that'll be a little later into the night). Pennsylvania another big one?

Hoping for the best, America.

If Florida and Pennsylvania are called it's over. Heck, if Florida is called it's over for him

This is the only possible map I can think of that gives Trump a win without Florida, and there are a lot of very, very long shots here

So what are the odds CNN will release a final national poll with Trump ahead? 99%?
