A in Real Real Analysis (the one with Lebesgue Integration, Hilbert Spaces, Lp-spaces, equicontinuity, Fourier Series, etc) so As in all four proof based math classes. Hopefully looks good for Economics grad schools...

And these graduation ceremonies are a pain in the ass, omg. Like 4 hours of waiting for three seconds of accepting your "diploma."

You can get probably get in anywhere, with decent enough letters that I'm sure you have.

I had less math than that and had zero issues getting in nearly everywhere (you'll actually get rejected by some 10-20 schools since they know you can get into the top 10, but apply nevertheless -- it's worth visiting as many departments as possible in flyouts).

Good luck with applications!

Here's a good flat tax.

A flat sales tax. By nature, it is progressive, not regressive.

"Flat" tax fans HATE IT.

Explain to me what you mean here because I'm confused.
Sales taxes are inherently regressive due to how poor people spend more of their income than the rich. I'm not entirely sure what a non-flat sales tax would mean. You mean every sale regardless or product is taxed the same?
Also, sales taxes, or consumption taxes such as the FairTax, and flat taxes are usually loved by the same general group of people AFAIK.

Never mind, I'm drunk and tired and stupid. You are right. I should never post after midnight. Sales taxes are absolutely regressive.

Carson is not an old white man, just saying. He was one of my potential candidates due to me liking his tax proposal, which seemed to have more thought put in than Cruz's. No, liking flat taxes doesn't make you crazy, and anyone who would take skin color, sex, or orientation into account for candidate choice is a bigot, simple as that. All I'm saying is, bringing it back to the original pint is this.

Regardless of popularity, a vote made with thought put behind it is a valid vote.

Not voting can be a legitimate choice if thought is put into it.

Voting for someone without thought is as bad as not voting due to not caring.

The election is not over until it's over, can't count everyone out just yet.

You think the fed is modern slavery but you never gave us an answer as to why you think that. Now you are for flat taxes. The most regressive form of taxation, yet you call yourself a Bernie supporter. Incredible.

Please don't compare yourself to other Bernie supporters, I'm sure 100% of them are not for regressive taxes on the poor, or all the racist shit Trump stands for.

Huelen thinks executive order 11110 is important, when it is actually the literal opposite of what they think it is. Huelen is either a very ridiculous troll, or someone to whom Breitbert and the Sovereign Citizen movement don't go far enough.

Either way, it's not really worth engaging with. Happens once a week nowadays it seems - it's a very effective way of derailing stuff as we all sit round looking stupefied at the weirdness on display.

Congrats man. That's hard work, I feel that my main qualification from four years of studying maths is to be able to say that pure maths is horrible.

Let me put this in ways you can understand

Sonic is an itinerant hedgehog who can only hold 200 rings at a time, whose main source of employment involves running spasmodically through confusing stages with deadly spikes

Robotnik is a casino owner with millions of rings, six out of the seven chaos emeralds, and turns people like you into robots

Yet Angel Island levies a flat tax of 100 rings every year

Oh my god.

There's gonna be so much winning
So much, we're gonna be sick of it!!!
no we won't..

Well, to be fair, that didn't actually happen.
But damn it.. I can see him doing that shit.

And this is a work of art.

I usually stay off of Twitter, but those Elizabeth Forma posts are ether. I was a little nervous for how the general would play out with how successful Trump was shutting down the likes of JEB and other GOPers. I didn't really take into account that they couldn't attack in the ways a GE candidate could. If the Democrats can stick with an effective anti-Trump message, then it's dissgonbgud.gif

Just slept 10 hours for the first time in forever. I feel like a different person!

- ear hoops look nasty to me, but I'm not really into body mods all that much. That might just be GrumpyOldTom.jpg talking..

- Franken would be an interesting contrast with Trump: he's proof that some celebrities can make the transition from showbiz to become serious, solid, respectable policymakers. Trump is the exact opposite: unserious, risky, clownish. But Franken's past in showbiz (SNL/radio/books/etc) would have to be combed through, as I'm sure there are gems that Team Clinton might not like to deal with, especially if there are better VP options available.

- Warren is a fantastic attack dog. The surrogate strategy is going to work well; I don't even know if Trump can control his impulse to overreact, especially when it's a woman who's doing the attacking. Trump's like one of those video game bosses who's easily beaten by getting him to land hits on himself.

Love Franken ('Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right' was the first political book I ever read) but I don't think he makes for a good combo with Hillary. Like Sanders and Warren, I prefer he stay in the Senate and keep doing that good werk. Oh shit he's 64? Jesus we're all getting old.

So, I never managed to get a picture, but some guy who lives down the road from me (Boston suburbs) had this crazy Trump-themed police cruiser. It disappeared for a while, but I drove by this morning and he seems to have...upgraded?

So last night on Real Time I'd say Ann Coulter came off as more rational than 95% of OT posters. They seem more in line with that Gillespie idiot who claims to be a libertarian and how both options are so bad and Hillary is just as bad as Trump so let's accelerate the destruction of America by going to a gold standard. THEN everyone will see the light!!!

I've already stated what's most important to me.

Woah. I missed this yesterday, but even for you this is... wow. An esoteric executive order from the Kennedy era is your number one most important issue for determining which candidate you vote for?

And issues not far behind are privatization of Social Security and renaming marriage to civil union?

Damn, you got me. I'm actually like "wow!" IRL. Trump is clearly your guy, he talks about these "issues" nonstop amirite

I found the perfect candidate.

When you guys refer to 'OT posters,' are you discussing posters in the Off-Topic forum politics threads?

I've never ventured over there, but have heard you guys bring it up constantly.

Generally. Not all OT posters are bad. Some are really quite good and don't want to put up with our Star Chamber here, which is a sentiment I certainly can understand. But by and large you have people posting the "douche vs. turd sandwich" meme with what I'm sure is a smirk on their face, posting links from Breitbart/Washington Times, etc. Just basically posting as if they were programmed by South Park mixed with Politico.

I really shouldn't make fun of them. Sometimes it gets to me.

The one thing I'll say is distinctly good about the community here is that people understand the process even if they're dicks about it. We know how you get elected here, which cuts out a lot of the personal stuff.

Unlike Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton Lacks A Simple, Clear Economic Message [NPR]
This year, both Bernie Sanders and Trump have big plans for change: build a wall, break up the banks, make a political revolution. This is what political professionals call an origin story — a clear rationale for how we got here, and who is to blame for it.

Does Clinton Need An 'Origin Story'?

Democratic pollster Celinda Lake says Clinton needs her own origin story. She needs to tell voters why they are struggling.

"Why are we not competitive? Why do we not have manufacturing jobs?" said Lake. "We're Americans after all. We're supposed to be able to ensure the next generation has a better chance. That's why all of our families or most of our families came here. That's why all of our families stayed here."

Clinton has a lot of programs to address the economic worries of what she's called everyday Americans — paid family leave, debt free college, affordable child care. But she rarely sums it all up.

She has been experimenting with one big theme, which she calls "Breaking Down Barriers." It's a message aimed at women, Hispanics and African-Americans.

But she does it in her own policy-wonkish way.
Too much superhero in my politics

Basically they wonder why Hillary doesn't have an unrealistic pet issue she can turn into a soundbyte.
