Trans individuals peeing.

This is a state of emergency.

Where are those image macros about how soft the new generations are and about how they would get their ass kicked in a real emergency?

When I was at my best friends wedding one of the bartenders made me a drink

sour berry smirnoff + sprite = a drink that tastes like jollyranchers

I can totally do that! That sounds delicious. The Electric Berry Smirnoff Ice is freaking DELICIOUS too. But I have Smirnoff vodka. And lots of other vodkas. I also bought some bourbon but....not sure how I feel about that yet. I bought it mainly for cooking.

Something like this...but with more crying. And alcohol. Not for Dubya, though.

I know everyone says he really didn't want to be president but why run at all? His mother sure didn't want him to run and his brother didn't seem to want him to run either. So did his dad push him? Or did he feel the need to be president just like his dad and brother? I hope we get to see into his motivations eventually.

There are other chairs who probably feel that way and feel like this is my party and f*** Bernie Sanders,” said Martin, a Clinton supporter. “I’m not one of those.

“I feel very passionately that we have to open up that party and make sure that those voices are heard,” he said.
If he's talking about the anti-empiricism crowd. No thanks. Sometimes your voice was heard and rejected. Get over it. Also sometimes your voice is just stupid.

Why should the platform be split evenly when his platform lost pretty resoundingly.

And any one engaged in violence or harassment really can just fuck right off.

This is just getting ridiculous. Never have I seen such stupidity at these levels. To quote Trevor Noah: "If you notice who is in the bathroom with you you are paying too much attention."

Edit: I'll just keep that discussion in the other thread.

On the other topic, did they really declare a State of Emergency?

Not at all. Independents by and large prefer Bernie Sanders over Hillary Clinton, so that notion couldn't possibly be true. Many people who wanted to vote for Bernie were simply unable to.

Now, that isn't to say that Bernie couldn't have won without the many independents who would have voted for him, or that he lost because of them, but he needed to do much better than he has done so far without them. He didn't lose because Hillary supporters outnumber Bernie supporters. The GE polls already demonstrate that that's false.

This is a step up from complaining about OT in PoliGAF. Now we're complaining about a PoliGAF poster's post in OT, in PoliGAF!

It's.. uhh.. neogafception?

Anyway, that tweet about Oklahoma was from an ACLU staffer, I wonder where he got the info from.

Can anyone tell me anything about the National Center for Transgender Equality?
http://www.transequality.org/

Are they legit? I want to donate some money or something to someone who is doing something about this fucking bullshit....but I don't really feel like giving to the ACLU or GLADD because....I want it to go to a transgender group. I've been way too guilty of focusing my support on the gay part of the LGBT family tree and I want to fix that.

Anyone know of a good group? I mean, I'm not rich, but maybe $20 a month would help someone? IDK...

They seem legit from a quick glance. Glaad reps them a bit on their site.

Ya, they did mention them on Glaad's site. Plus, their site is up to date with new issues. So....ya, seems legit enough to me. Think I'll split my donation between them and the Ohio Anti-LGBT Violence group I'm currently obsessed with.

But those flush discrimination tshirts are just awful.

watching the video of the house vote today on the LGBT bill is fucking infuriating. The vote is kept open and as soon as that final vote switch to nay from the GOP, the voting was closed.

Fucking assholes.

I'm listening to this week's Throwing Shade, and it's a delightful takedown of the transgender bathroom issue. Erin gets into the history of public restrooms as a frontline for progressive issues, and her and Brian get into a broader defense of trans issues. It's really solid stuff.

This scheme will give GOP Gov. Doucey 2 new appointees. He already appointed ultra-conservative Clint Bolick in 2016

Wow... That's some shit. Can't appointment any new Justices, so why not expand the court and unbalance the court for years.

It's particularly bad since the court did not want to be expanded. This is purely political.

I mean, their government had to do something as their extremely long quest to murder Richard Glossip continued to drag.

They have no murder drugs with them right now and are thus bored.

They are pretty insane, that is for sure. And oof.

In lighter news:

AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) - A Texas-based LGBT advocacy helped spark a grammar debate this week over whether an errant comma in the stridently anti-homosexual Republican Party of Texas platform can be read as saying the majority of Texans are gay.

The plank that was approved by delegates at the party's convention this month reads: "Homosexuality is a chosen behavior that is contrary to the fundamental unchanging truths that has been ordained by God in the Bible, recognized by our nations founders, and shared by the majority of Texans."

Lone Star Q, which describes itself as the state's No. 1 source for LGBT news, asked on Twitter on Wednesday to have a "grammar debate" over the wording.

In response, grammarians pointed out that placement of the final comma in the plank could lead to understanding it to mean that homosexuality is a chosen behavior shared by the majority of Texans. They also noted that "nations" should have an apostrophe and that by using "has been," the plank gives the impression that homosexuality has been ordained by God.

Party officials did not respond to requests to comment.

It is, of course, not bathrooms that are at issue to them, but the idea of change to notions of sex and gender that transgender acceptance supposedly represents (in tandem with the many other challenges to such things that have emerged in recent years). Not really that hard to understand, even if you don't agree with it, I don't think, given that, a decade ago (maybe even now, I'm not sure what the numbers are), the vast majority of people - even just in the U.S., let alone the wider world - would have scoffed at the notion that a biological male could be a woman. It's about preserving an understanding that currently exists that is seen as superior, for one reason or another, to a new perspective that threatens to displace it. Y'know, conservatism.
