Origins is a fantastic game. Legends takes all of Origins and just does it so much better.

It's kind of like the Super Mario Galaxy games.

You should play the first one then the second. The second just refines everything about the first and fixes problems that you didn't realize were issues in the first place.

I respectfully disagree.

The biggest problems the game has, is its Wii U focus. So all the mechanics in the murphy levels are extremely out of place. The fact that there are so many levels with Murphy doesn't help either. Every time I saw that little bastard coming up, I knew I was in for another weak mechanic. Press B for this, press B for that. Imagine this stuff being in the game without the existence of the Wii U. It would make no sense.

The one time that the game comes close to the perfection of origins, is with its music levels. Especially the third one is an absolute masterpiece. 20000 lums under the sea also stands out as the better world. But all in all, I thought the levels in origins are more fun to play. I replayed some of those levels to make sure I wasn't blinded by nostalgia or something. Take the underwater levels in Origins, those are incredible to play. And that music, still as good as I remembered it.

It's a good game, but I enjoyed origins WAY more. Maybe if I had a Wii U, I would've played a better game.

And the servers have been down for 2 days :(

Yesterday I could play the daily challenges, but since then it doesn't work anymore. Vita version really seems a bit strange.

Most people are playing on Wii U

Are you just talking about the online-numbers or about worldwide sales?

Apologies if this has been asked, but is this still worth getting on Wii U if im only going to play solo? If not, I may just go 360.

I have played Wii U, Vita and 360 versions (not PS3 or PC, though), Wii U and Vita to completion, 360 all Murfy levels, and I prefer the Wii U version in singleplayer.

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
That's nice to know. At list there is hope for some of Ubisoft's future games to be on Wii U.

well let's not go too crazy here, haha.
If anything, it may be a telling story of what kind of content to release.

We all know how SCBL did...

I actually liked the Murphy stuff, but I feel like that may be due in part to that I'm comfortable playing games with a "claw" grip on my controller.

Example:

Clawone.jpg

I generally hold the controller in the standard position but I'm perfectly comfortable flipping my index finger over to hit the Y button. As a result, I liked the quick pace thinking that was often needed with the Murphy obstacles where I was running full pace and having to decide whether I should or shouldn't be activating whatever Murphy was going to interact with. I can understand why people wouldn't like it but I really enjoyed it.

With Origins, I really, really loved that game but as I was trying to get perfect runs on everything - the mosquito levels were absolutely horrendous to me. Also, Origin felt like it wasn't as varied. The worlds often times had you going through a few levels in a row that were all pretty similar - at least visually. I thought that Legends mixed it up more, especially with all the time trial type levels and invasion painting things. And my god those music levels - fantastic.

I'm playing on PS3 and I can't even see how the Murphy stuff would even work in single player. Some of the stages require having Murphy do stuff a split second before you jump. How is that even possible?

I haven't encountered any difficulty with his stages so far. I have like 550 teensies.

On WiiU/Vita you only control Murphy in these levels. Your main character is controlled by the AI.

If it wasn't for the invasion levels, the Murphy stages Wouldve easily been my favourite part of Legends. I love seeing a Murphys dungeon challenge!

Finished the main five worlds and all the invasion levels. Just got the last few world tour paintings and the origin levels to do.

No idea how some of you get diamond trophies on the timed challenges

Wow that's awesome! So PS3+WiiU total at AT LEAST 120,000 units sold.
Could somone post how many are in the Vita, 360 and Steam leaderboards please?

Vita isn't possible at the moment, because it's offline. Last time I played it (yesterday evening), it was about 10.000 then. 360 I could look up, but it's tedious to connect the box to the internet, so not today.

Wow these last few Invasion paintings are brutal. The last one took me almost an hour. I could use a PS3 friend who won't mind me beating them 30 times:p

I own the PS3 ver. and check the leaderboards everyday mainly to see my standings =P
Most I've seen online for PS3 ver. whenever I play online on the leaderboards is a little over 50,000, so at least 50,000 people bought Rayman Legends on PS3.

So, 70.000 (Wii U) + 10.000 (PSV) + 50.000 (PS3) + 62.000 (36)=192.000 people (ok, I count for three people here, but I doubt Ubisoft cares if it's individuals or double dippers) have this game and played it online at least once. So if the Bosnian exploit didn't inflate the 360-versions number by a lot, chances are probably good that it's going to post a profit, no?

Thought about getting Legends and W101 (sometime soon). Any reason not to get the Wii U version?

You can only play Murfy in the Murfy-levels (about 20% of thegame) in singleplayer, on PS360 you play Rayman in the Murfy-levels instead, with Murfy turned into a QTE. Some prefer playing Rayman in the Mury-levels. I personally prefer the Wii U's solution. Multiplayer with Murfy and Rayman (big highlight of the game is exclusive to Wii U (and PSV, provided you have two Vitas, two Memory Cards and two games).

I've played this game on PC and Wii U, and I found I prefer the Murfy levels on PC better. The levels are more like puzzles with the touchscreen, but I prefer the direct control platforming with another element tied in. It's very fun racing through the level while the button presses cause Murfy to move things in just the right place a split second before you would have fallen to your death.

Cool! You wouldn't happen to know what songs the other levels are covers of? =)

Castle Rock - Black Betty (Ram Jam Version I think)
Glu GLu - Woo Hoo (The 5.6.7.8's covering The Rock-A-Teens)
Dragon Slayer - Antisocial (Anthrax)

No clue about the Orchestra from the Toad Section of the game.

origins was good, but this game is incredible, really is almost on dk country returns level,if not on par,and DK is one of my games of the gen.

I may like this game a lot but we're talking about a game with some of the most lenient checkpointing in the genre like respawning you directly in front of most pits you may fall down, I don't think its winning any battles when it comes to being the least "hand holdy".

Ahh got it. So you're all looking at global statistics

Alright All Main portraits finished last night (now Back to Origins)

I have to say, after seeing videos for the 8-bit music levels on youtube, Dragon Slayer 8-bit is considerably harder on the Vita than any other system.

the fact that pixel compression reduces the rayman sprite to just about a single pixel is rough from the Dragon mouth jump all the way to the end is ridiculous. There is so much more real estate to view the characters on larger TV sets.

Easily my most repeated stage without clearing.

They've probably unplugged the Vita servers to see if anyone would actually notice :( Wonder if they'll ever return. Seems odd that it's the only platform being affected.

Yup. It's not that tough, in part because of the check point system. I'll be damned if it isn't a brilliant game though.

So addicting. Challenges are crack to me.

What's there to hate about uplay?! I fired it up for the time and it seemed harmless. Even redeemed a ps3 Legends theme with the some of the points accumulated.
