Why are we always talking about Sony and Microsoft in the console war when Nintendo is the only clear winner?

My opinion is that Nintendo decided to focus on their portable market, which they had a stranglehold on for generations. The TV console market is abandoned/salvaged by merging it with the portable market.

Both Nintendo and Sony realized they couldn't support the handheld AND the TV console at the same time anymore as dev time and costs balloon. Sony decided to save the PS3 and killed the Vita. Nintendo decided to kill the wiiU and go all-in on the Switch. Both made the decision to combine their studios into one hardware.

Now, in theory Sony can one day make the PlayStation a portable device. But consider the outcry on the Switch2 price, i expect that to be two or three generations away unless we got some new tech breakthrough to lower hardware costs.

Because SIE and Microsoft Gaming account for 87% of consumer spending.

Their revenues reflect that NSW sold 150m as a secondary console.

Secondary consoles tend to have lower ARPU and lower costumer retention.

The question is: Where does Nintendo fit in todays landscape; a world with less disposable income, less free time, higher prices, a wider array of entertainment options, and GTA 6 looming.

Can consumers afford a secondary console ?

Good point. At 450 bucks they kind of price themselves out of second console consideration I think. Especially given the state of the economy.

Nintendo have experienced some very high highs (like they are currently) but they've also had their fair share of lows. Nothing is a sure thing and I wouldn't be celebrating the success of Switch 2 just yet.

Nintendo keeps doing recovery runs and it's fans thinks it matters...
Too vague?
They basically like coming in on round 3 and going 15 rounds in the ring despite their opponents leaving the Ring in Round 5 and one of them took the Belt.

Graphics / tech obsessed "gamers" can't handle Nintendo being the market leader so constantly shift the goalposts as to why they don't count.
