My area has one person on the radio that is a Democrat and he is the highlight of my week. In southern Nevada there is Doug Basham. This guy has been on an ownage streak of at least 16 years. The callers are almost exclusively hostile as the majority of the programming on the station Basham airs on is very right wing.

See, I find LWT pretty overrated, though I'd agree Oliver's generally funnier than Noah. It's more of an infotainment thing tbh, a lot of the "jokes" are just saying things in an outraged tone. Not to say there isn't a place for that, mind.
So basically agreed, but take out some of the >'s between Oliver and Noah and stick them between Noah and Wilmore, whose show I just find utterly unfunny, for the most part.

I always wondered why Comedy Central didn't ask Samantha to take over. Her show is excellent.
I'd have a tough time picking between her and Oliver. Both are great, but have different styles. Wilmore is entertaining, and I almost always find his rountable discussions at the end worthwhile. Noah, just isn't that funny.

I'll agree that Oliver's comedy writing just gets repetitive. I think Sam Bee's humor is so sharp but sometimes it's just so fast I feel like I have to watch it twice (not that that's a real problem).
Still, the thing about Stewart's Daily Show is that it was basically required watching every night for political fans as well as elites, it seemed. Politicians and media types watched and you could feel the way it helped shape narratives for everyone. Who has that now? Personally, I think Oliver's info-tainment pieces are the closest. Not the best satire, but they feel more "required" than all of the others. Meanwhile, Sam Bee's sharpness is just so strong and great, but no one watches TBS. I bet the average person doesn't even know what channel or time she comes on.

Sam Bee feels required for the voters to understand how things have gotten to where they are right now. Her bits on the rise of the religious right have been really fantastic. It feels like her show is trying to figure out exactly how our politics got to where they are today and that's massively important.

Personally, I totally agree. It's why I rank her number 1. I just think culturally she's not there yet, but she's gaining ground pretty quickly.
