The thing is you're dismissing all elements that plays in favour of Shadows:If a game with huge budget doesnt make profit thats substantially above its budget, then yup, its a flop, companies are the definition of for profit organisations.
- "Second highest revenue of the franchise since Valhalla" "doesn't count because budget"
- "3 million players in one week" "doesn't cause because players, not sales" (despite evidence pointing to huge majority of players being on PS5, so paid customers, and that Ubisoft+ doesn't have millions of subscribers)
- "ranked n2 in Circana charts" (like Helldivers did back then, or CoD when it launched, to compare" "yeah but it isn't worlwide"
I follow sales for games for years, you have obvious successes (like Hogwarts for eg, or Helldivers 2), and obvious flops (Star Wars Outlaws, Indiana Jones or Dragon Age for eg). Here we're in between, neither an obvious success nor a flop (so far). Let's see the end year Circana report (which usually gives a good indication on how well a game performs worldwide), if it doesn't crack the top 5 by the end of the year, then yeah, not a success.
