Varvel actually drew a pretty good cartoon for once.

I assume this is Bernie following Hillary. I can't tell without labels.

Honestly what real power does a VP have? Seems like the eternal warming up position

Only as much power as the president gives him/her. The last two VPs have been the most consequential/powerful VPs in recent history due to presidential trust. Granted Cheney fell out with Bush in the second term apparently but overall he had quite a bit of influence.

Given how insular the Clinton camp tends to be I wouldn't be stunned if Hillary's VP doesn't reach the heights that Cheney and Biden did.

Wasn't Quinnipac overweighting white votes in FL like 3 months ago?
I remember them having like LESS latino/hispanic weighted votes than 2012 which doesn't make a lick of fucking sense considering demographic shifts. Like do they not poll Hispanics at all?

For whatever reason they're wildly off in FL for Hispanic voters.

It is still a depressing realization that at least 40% of those people asked support that bigoted tub of lard in clothing. How is it that we live in a society where a completely unqualified, divisive and dangerous individual like trump has at best a 50% chance of becoming president. How can any rational human being consider an individual like trump representative of a country as diverse and powerful as the United States. He is a fraud and a thief, a liar and a worthless scoundrel who shouldn't even have his name in the history books. He is an insult to humanity and a detriment to our collective progress.

Not everyone knows every political figure and political cartoons are studied 50 or even 100 year later. Even Trump won't be remembered by our grandchildren.
Nobody is going to look back at this moment in time 50 or 100 years later. And even if they did, they would not be looking at that cartoon.

It's from the Indianapolis Star, drawn for Hoosiers, right now. They will understand it.

It's a perfectly timely cartoon which shouldn't require any captions to dumb it down.

Because the country treats politics as a team sport. The orange turd is not fit for office but by golly he's OUR orange turd.

for marist numbers

Polls were conducted July 5-10, immediate aftermath of Comey recommending no charges but saying Clinton was careless

Looking at these polls, America had a good run, I guess. Time to turn out the lights and move to Canada where that dreamy Justin Trudeau runs the show.

Hillary is leading Trump among white people in Colorado in that Monmouth poll.

How baked is that state to be this liberal?

With the exception of men, who split 40-39 percent for Trump versus Clinton, the real estate mogul trails the former secretary of state among women (56-30), voters age 50 and under (51-26) and minorities (66-15). Clinton also leads Trump among white voters in Colorado (44-38), a key demographic that Trump has typically done better among in both national and other state-level polls.

The poll included one day of polling after the Sanders endorsement.

The Ohio numbers are concerning mainly because of the Senate race but as long as there is a good lead in either PA or Fl this race is still not close

And this is at the lowest point of the race for Clinton with the RNC convention coming at Trump not looking completely dumb for a week

FOR THE UNINFORMED:

The comic is simple. Mike Pence is holding a bag of justice rocks and following Trump around secretly so that he can cludgeon him in the back of the head for picking Newt instead of him. He says "It's a shovel ready job" because he is going to bury Trump's body in the prarie. However, there is some definite cleverness going on here, in the form of situational irony. First, there actually isn't any prarie left because as a congressman Mike Pence voted NAY for preserving land for wild horses and burros at their 1971 levels, contributing to the slow crawl of development like an inevitable grim reaper for all of America's wildlife. Second, that's not actually the right shovel! That's actually a Hoover dust pan, also known as a dust-shoveled. This is possibly a subtle dig at Pence's intelligence.

Is Trump gonna win? :(

Yes!! Feel the Trump!

This speech by Hillary is really good. We say that a lot but really mean it here. From the content to how she's delivering it.

Not going to lie, quitting porn was one of the best things I did in college. Before I couldn't perform up to my ability during actual sex. I quit, started cardio, and quickly noticed my erections were a lot stronger and the "finish" was quite large if you know what I mean.

So I support No Fap movements. I have way more fun now.

Can you draw me a comic to explain the comic in simpler terms?

I don't believe that Clinton is up on Trump by that much among white voters in CO. I've been to Colorado Springs and Pueblo and Denver, and white people there are pretty conservative. I don't think the Mormon population is significant either, not even Arizona-level significant, much less NV or AZ-level.

I need a flow graph pls

I've said this a bunch

@NoahCRothman
All these polls make no sense unless you see them consistently showing Trump pulling 36% min to 42% max. Then you see a pattern.

the thing to look at is trump can't get above the low 40s, hillary can.

I think that's a lot more predictive of the final margin than where we stand today in hillarys support

That was way too much information and off-topic for this thread.

PA continues to be the GOP unicorn.

I wonder how Trump will do in Ohio since Kasich refuses to endorse him and won't attend the convention despite it being in Ohio.

EDIT: Great Clinton speech. The contrast between this and Trump's last night is insane.

She's not gonna pick Warren, is she.. :(

Now that Bernie endorsed her...no. The quick little affair with Warren was to get some of the Bernie folks to go over to her, once Bernie endorsed her, there was no reason for her to continue the charade of Warren for VP.

I think a similar phenomenon happened in the GOP primary until it became functionally over?
