After all the things trump has done recently I have a feeling he will flip multiple red states including some strong red states to blue states in this election cycle.

Don't underestimate Trump. The entire story of his campaign is that he says things that are supposed to sink his candidacy but they NEVER do.

True, but the guy keeps on making mistake after mistake after mistake. Eventually all these mistakes will sink his campaign. I don't expect his polling numbers to fall into the 20's but he's probably going to stay in the high 30's or low 40's in the polls for now.

So he can't lecture Clinton on honesty. He can't lecture Clinton on e-mails.

Are we about to find out that he was implicated in Benghazi?

I've said this before, Trump is a great candidate to put against Clinton because he shares so many of her perceived faults. You can't discount Clinton but not Trump on trust worthiness. Or on ego. Or on just being in it for themselves.

So you have to look elsewhere to see how they differ. And it's that 'elsewhere' that Clinton will shine. If she was running against someone else she's have to defend defend defend. With Trump she just has to demonstrate that criticism X also applies to Trump (and that's super easy)... then that leaves people looking at their success. Their policies. Their demeanor. Etc.

So Gallup pulled a poll last December on terrorism and guns. Notes:

* 79% think it would be effective to bomb ISIS more
* 79% think it would be helpful to have tighter screening on temporary visa holders
* 71% think we should ban gun sales to people on the no-fly list
* 55% think we should pass an assault weapons ban
* 38% think it would help to ban Muslims from entering America; 28% to impose a religious test to enter the US and ban Muslims based on the test (note the difference between these two based on implementation)
* 32% think it would help to make Muslims carry a special ID

* 55% of Americans favor stronger gun control laws, which is still lower than 78% during the 90s
* Large majorities of Americans want stronger background checks on gun purchases but they mostly don't think they will reduce mass shootings
* 40% of Americans have a gun in the home
* A very small number of Americans list gun control as the most important issue (remember, this was last December)
* 25% of Americans say that gun control is a dealbreaker for a presidential candidate -- they will only vote for a candidate that agrees with them
* Trump has a 4-point lead over Hillary Clinton on both gun control and handling terrorism (note that Romney had a 10-point deficit on terrorism, but McCain had a 16-point lead on terrorism)
