Now doing mission board quests like a mad man because I realize that I need to boost the old stealth skills a bit. I've been running and gunning up until now. :messenger_beaming:

I haven't posted much in this thread, because I just don't have time, but 40 hours in and I wanted to give my thoughts.

First, I hate how they totally went the safe route for all the companions and most characters in the game. Nothing sexy, edgy, evil, etc....Why can't I join the assassin's guild and kill for the glory of the dark mother?

However (!), I am loving the game in every other way, and it is the most I've been addicted to a game in the last few years. I'm enjoying most of the side quests, and the world building is still excellent. I even love reading the notes in some of the random quests that give you some ideas of what happened in this place. Then sometimes you start what looks like a small quest and leads into a huge drawn out quests with multiple bases, shop battles, and negotiations. Every day at work I'm just thinking about playing in the evening. Something about this game has captured me........

Finished Mantis quest yesterday.

It was great but was a bit disappointed after so much praise for it.

Weird how hype works.

On the other hand, enjoyed red mile run cause went with lower expectations.
Weird, the Mantis quest was what finally got the game going for me. Of course it was like one of the earliest non main story quests I did, so I hadn't seen much yet!

BTW you probably shouldn't try that mission at level 6 like I did :messenger_tears_of_joy:

That's me. I literally live there at this point. Havent felt that way since Morrowind and FFXI.

I'll do my final impressions much later but I will say I'm going to wildly deviate from most people here on the companions. I think Sarah is by far my favorite romantic interest in a game since Elika in Prince of Persia (2008). Some of the writing is a bit over the top but I think she's awesome. I dont get into Persona waifu stuff at all but Sarah got me. Her voice is just insanely hot, and I like that she's just a normal supportive person instead of some talking gimmick.

Sam seems alright so far. Andreja seems cool. Barret's not terrible but is my least favorite. I havent seen their quests yet. But I do agree that there should be more alignment variety for evil playthroughs.

Yeah, I did it much later, now I mostly have better gear and ship than what I got there.

So maybe that's why. But I can see quest itself is pretty cool.

Did the Mantis quest at level 26, and the difficulty of finishing it definitely matched what I would imagined it to be, infiltrating a place like that.

Also I hope when official mods come out, that there is a mod that enables music while exploring but turns it off indoors. I like having no soundtrack for those tense indoor firefights. Hearing footsteps, enemy chatter, and which direction bullets are firing from helps for the harder difficulty(and on a personal note it brings tension and brings me back to older 90s and 2000s shooters like Max Payne).

I just went to Akila City at like 150 hrs in.
I think I went there doing busy work related to some other quest and got the bank mission

I could have gone down the rabbit hole there, joined the Freestar Collective, taking missions, but stayed on the particular path I was on and and I've since returned there with Sam Coe via the Shaw Gang and later the UC Terramorph path and have now joined the FC.

I quite like Akila, it's deceptively big and has a nice aesthetic...and the surrounding countryside is actually rather beautiful.

Shame they patched the puddle exploit though.

Its bigger than I first thought. Was really enjoyable trying to find my way around with no map and learning through dialogue, the museum and signs that the city is multiple circles.

Did anyone feel like the way they have done NG+ kinda makes the whole thing seem pointless?

I know they gave you a choice etc, but for some reason i almost immediately lost interest once I reached the Lodge again.

Agreed to everything you say 🤝

100+ hours deep and finished the main story awhile back, there are ups and downs but all in all I enjoyed it. Instantly started over and have been having fun again with a different build. I play it very differently now, focusing on research and building, and well… I think I’m addicted.

There are many things I don’t like though, like the designs as you say, it’s a no-fun-allowed universe, it’s like it’s made by and for people with no sexual drive of any kind or people who try to cover all bases to make sure they don’t piss off any potential loud group on Twitter. But it still has something that makes me come back to it. In 40 years this is probably one of the games I’ve played the most over the shortest time. Tried to go back to Cyberpunk over the weekend because of the 2.0 update but went back to Starfield again. Guessing that’ll happen to many games going forward. Haven’t even returned to Zelda TOTK which is still unfinished.

It’s a divisive game though. Some fall out early. Some fall out after main story ends. Concurrent players are dropping fast on Steam. I hope people will still be around in 2024 when they say they’ll release the official modding tools, which is when I assume we can get a world with some beauty and passion and cool custom planets and stuff. Those tools should’ve been there day 1.

Love how my ship turned out, its a Shieldbreaker with 1 extra module added on each wing. It looks so sick from behind, in space, with all those engines and the powerful sound it makes when you boost. The design reminds of those old 80s space military animes like Armored Trooper Votoms.

Well, at least ships can be sexy in this game…

Great work. That color scheme is 🔥

I don't really think a game like this benefits from an immediate second playthrough.

For me, it's something I'd return to a year or two down the line, when it's not so fresh and there has potentially been fixes, a wealth of new mods, even some DLC, to change the experience somewhat.

Can't imagine doing a second playthrough.

Will wipe it clean in first one itself.

I stumbled across this one quite early. The loot from it is exceptional. So much so, I deliberately do not use it, as it renders everything else you find after it redundant.

Plus it looks too weird for my liking.

alittle. i had only finshed the Mantis questline and a few random side quests when i found out about the NG+ situation. i went ahead and grinded out the rest of ng+ 's and got the top armor of that set and ship. Now for the last 50+hours iv been basiaclly playing the game, have been doing faction questlines and outpost and the rest. game is incredible.

I suppose if you did all the other stuff first then did NG+ it might seem kinda pointless yes.

I'm probably going to finish everything and then finish the main quest, in the NG+ I'll do just enough to get some credits but I'll focus on planet exploration which I haven't done yet. Get myself in a reasonable position for however they integrate the expansions.

Don't forget, you can farm any character affinity by doing the hostage rescue mission from the Freestar Collective board in their HQ.

Yeah, that's an area I haven't been that great at yet. Haven't unlocked any of the companion quests yet.

Late to the party with this one, due to prior commitments in Baldur's Gate...

Seems pretty good so far, the gunplay is solid at least. So much fast travel though - the quest I'm on is basically fast travel to find a guy, no he's not here, try another place, fast travel there, fast travel again. Maybe I'm approaching it wrong.

Also, who is my character meant to be? He's a lowly manual worker who stumbles across an artifact, then suddenly he's given a starship which he already knows how to pilot, and now the leader of the company that owns the ship is following me around and calling me Captain.

I think it would have made more sense if the mining part was just a prologue, and the Constellation people take possession of the artifact and wake up a fresh clone of some veteran space explorer from hypersleep to take it from there.
