Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

Just got two exotic engrams to drop off of the Taken Gate Lord in a heroic strike lol. Helm and special weapon. Used 3 three of coins unsuccessfully and then the 4th one was the jackpot.

Results of my Sourge of Winter farm with 3 of Coins.

Used 20 coins, 2 exotic engrams dropped.

1 Helm (Helm of Inmost Light) and 1 Primary (Hawkmoon).

Sorry, been at work, so it is one coin for every run you do? If I die I need to use another one?

Also, how much are the coins to buy?

Its 5 3oC for 7 strange coins. Once you kill an ultra the buff goes away, so you just use another one and you'll have a higher chance to get an exotic (stacking until an exotic drops).

can anyone recommend which strike is best for the striker titan quest line; the one where you have to generate 7 orbs three times from the fist of havoc.

I have the same question, as well. Tried last night in Will of Crota and it was an utter fail. I don't think I've generated 7 orbs.

THE UNDYING MIND

is hands down the best and easiest strike for doing the orbs......get to the stairs......and omg

Ugh! I used 20 coins and got 4 exotics engrams and all I got is a hand cannon which I never use and the 3 armor engrams I got aren't compatible with my Titan :(

provided everyone either joins the voice channel so you can tell them to get them to where they'll die from a nova bomb or you aren't partnered with 2 other warlocks trying to do the same thing as you and they don't join the voice channel

just ask here on NeoGaf many are willing to help out....you get yours done....jump and die and it resets the stairs.

I'm not falling into that hole again with grinding for anything. just whatever drops is fine with me.

Heck yah, the way it should be!!

My only beef is that I'm leveling so fast (about to hit 40) that all the 30-39 gear I've found so far were farts in the wind... but Diablo is just like that too... only in this game, these pieces of gear have minor upgrades to unlock for each of them...

Most gear I've gotten so far I've been replacing before I even had a chance to max them out...

Is it still possible to solo Nightfall strikes? One of my favourite aspects of the vanilla game. I just loved it more than anything else. I like working with others but the challenge and intensity is just ridiculous.

Is there a spoiler discussion for those of us interested in the new raid but won't be able to play it for a bit? I want to hear how folks are overcoming the new stuff.

Slow day at work.

Returning player, need to ask something. I quit playing Destiny around the time when Vault of Glass got its first major patch. So my questions are:

1.) What will happen to equipment/exotics my Warlock has? I know I need to dismantle them etc, but where do I go from there?

2.) I bought the Legendary Edition of Taken King. Storywise I´m at Vanilla-level. Can I play House of Wolves/The Dark Below when I load the game or does it force me to go straight to Taken King?

3.) Should I keep my level 29, Light 128 Warlock OR should I just start from scratch? I fear I will be overwhelmed if I come back with my Warlock.

Isn't this exactly the point of those coins? Other than cheesing how quickly you can do it, this seems like the eventual outcome anyway.

Yeah, from my own experience and from what it looks like, you mostly end up with 1 exotic per 5 3oC/7 SC if you try to game/farm it through Draxy. The effort + uncertainty probably winds up being what the difference to Bungie is versus buying exotics directly.

You don't need to dismantle them as they're still viable for PvP. You can buy Year 2 versions (so their stats are viable alongside all the new equipment for PvE) of exotic equipment you've acquired with Legendary Marks. You can see a catalog of these through terminals located in the room where all the class trainers are.

Vanilla/HOW/TDB/TK quest lines all live independently from each other, though ideally you do them in order because the level progression and difficulty were tuned for each other.

Keep your characters.

Friendly reminder to spoiler tag all raid discussion, and label it as such. Thanks!

You don't need to dismantle them. You can keep them in your vault, or you can dismantle them and get them back later via the blueprints collection in the Vanguard hall, but they cost marks.

You are not forced into anything. You'll have new quest lines for the Dark Below and House of Wolves to pick up, and can run the Taken King quests at your leisure. Or, go straight into them if you are level 25 or higher, it's your choice.

Personally, I enjoyed running through the newly reorganized campaign to see how the new leveling systems and gear worked with it. I used a Warlock as well to do so, and it does ease you into things more gradually. If you don't mind waiting a few days to get to the Taken King content (the new campaign with both prior DLC's is decently long), it's a good way to ease into things.

That said, the new systems are pretty newbie friendly and you'll be fine either way.

I'm gonna do the Gamestop deal today...

But I don't know when I'll jump in because I still want to beat MGSV 😰

There's nothing else like Destiny raiding even with randoms from destinylfg :)

Thanks for the answers! I think I´ll just jump in with my Warlock and see where that takes me. Gonna go for the House of Wolves first. :) Although I need to find out if I get Year 2 weapons by playing them...

is destiny worth buying now? i remember the backlash the game received when it first released...

As someone who was very negative towards vanilla Destiny, I had a great time going through the Taken King story missions. The general changes made to the game as well as a plus. I haven't gone back through the old content but I think I would probably still recommend the game now.

Second farm run:

3 Engrams

Helm - Light Beyond Nemesis

Gloves - The Impossible Machines (I had a feeling this would happen and didn't buy from Xur)

Primary - Suros Regime

100% this thing gets patched before next week.

Sucks that I only have 8 Strange Coins and not time play until tomorrow. :/

If I'm not equipped to offer an opinion on the game because I'm critical of it (while still playing it) then neither are you because you're so clearly invested in the game that you're not going to see nor admit to any faults. I absolutely feel the campaign missions are too little and too short for the asking price. There is virtually no build up to the menace of the big bad of the expansion. You see maybe two instances of him fucking factions up, there is no sense that he is this inexorable, crushing villain. Instead you wreck his shit in a handful of hours. A few more missions to highlight why he's a threat would have been nice. As it stands it's over in the blink of an eye. I remember the vanilla Destiny campaign being longer and that cost $60 compared to the $40 for this.

Yeah I'm likely going to get a bit more out of it because I enjoy the multiplayer versus with friends but going back to the grind doesn't interest nor seem like meaningful content to me. Post campaign content that asks me to go do crucible matches or run generic patrols isn't a meaningful continuation of the story. Quests that ask me to create orbs of light aren't meaningful content.

Sounds like you think the game is just the campaign then you are providing an opinion by only judging it by some of its content.
Strikes, the raid, Taken patrols, these are all critical parts of the story and dialogue of what is happening in the destiny universe.
Yes I am invested in the game I enjoy. And I see the faults it used to have. Many are not still present in the game I am playing right now.

Let me put it this way...
If you went to a restaurant and only had an appetizer do you feel you would be "equipped" as you say to give an educated opinion of the quality of the restaurant?

Chamber

love on your sleeve
3oC is getting patched 100%

Which would be BS. It's an item designed to increase engram drops, did they honestly think people wouldn't figure out a way to farm within minutes?

Only patch that would make sense is making it for Strike/Raid bosses only.

So what is the exotic farming with the three of coins?

I've read back a couple of pages and can't locate the info.
My body is ready.

Question... So say I'm doing a strike and I activate the Three of Coins at the boss and then a yellow health enemy spawns... does that mean if I kill that enemy that it wastes the coin?
