Very positive videos. DF have always very positive about ps5 pro in particular that is known by everyone/s

You clearly haven’t seen the Patreon video nor actually watched any of the videos where they discuss PSSR and the new hardware.

Ah yes, Only their most recent non public video counts. /s

Just because they have a positive stance in a video that doesn't remove all the other negative videos.

Here's me thinking that the Pro has it all covered. It's basically a 4090 with special sauce. 🤣 894p for the win!!! I am soooo buying the pro...

Are they?

Here are the Steam Statistics from Aug 2024.

Here are the GPUs used on Steam by percentage.

Old news? Lol.

It is worth remembering that most users come from China and cyber cafes are still very popular there. And in those places, they use mid-low GPUs, because most people play MOBAs and MMOs.
I think an interesting comparison is to look at the sales of a PC store:

Any bench to prove that it cost something like 20 FPS at 100?
The cost is in miliseconds - the framerate is just math from the time it took to compute a frame (in miliseconds). Eg. 100fps = 10ms per frame. Add/remove 2ms and you get 80/125fps

Because the video I linked are nowhere close to 40FPS
I didn't say it was, but the video shows the frametimes, and in the comparable shots that are held static for long enough, the delta beween native/DLAA is at least 2ms.

45% rasterisation improvement.

it is a tiny jump and people need to finally understand this.

PSSR is the main thing that will improve the subjective image clarity
45% raster improvement is not tiny, but it's not magic either.

DIY sales are a small fraction of the market, the vast majority are prebuilts and laptops

$1500+ PCs struggle with 1440p on Alan Wake 2. It doesn't even have a native resolution option. You have to use a form of upscaling to hit resolutions. It's not your typical pick your res and settings and off you go.
It has DLAA and, on FSR, native.

Tag, you're it.

I still don't see the point you wanna make? I wasn't even responding to you and we were talking about FPS/DLAA.

And as I said if you enable Reflex + Boost you get better responsiveness than native so I don't see any issue.

people need to realize this is not going to get better while sitll limited byt the same crappy cpu. 840p LMFAO
1) It's the performance mode. How does the CPU affect pixel count in a mode that is already 60fps?

2) I guess I game at 960p with my 4070. What a shock, better go sell it off.

Alan wake was a solid third person poltergeist shooter it’s a franchise that shouldn’t be flexing about graphics it’s a twisted horror franchise and people should lower their expectations for Alan wake 3

Are you sure? What tier is above PS5? A lot of people here still probably on 12GB 3060 hardware or less. Without a poll for most active users showing we don't conform with the Steam survey, it is just an unfounded claim, no?
Problem is that we now know ~75% of PS5 owners play in performance mode, which means resolutions of 1080p and lower for a lot of games... so a lot of people on PC are probably playing with better IQ and framerates than PS5 due to DLSS regardless.

Do you really expect him to answer that?

This week of nonsense created a world where PS5 base CAN reach 60 fps in just about any game but the PS5 Pro CAN'T with the same CPU and a GPU probably 2x faster once the image hits the screen

It's something special

Sounds like a low effort upgrade patch where they just replaced FSR with PSSR

Just give it up framerate warriors, you will never win.

30FPS consoles 4L.

at least you've graduated from 720p though
:mroff:

Nah consoles are the best they have been for playing at 60fps since moving into the HD age
There is a lot of stuff to play at 60fps and decent resolutions now including some of the highest rated games from this year like Infinite Wealth, Helldivers 2, Astrobot, Stellar Blade, SMTV, Unicorn Overlord, Shadow of the Eardtree, Tekken 8, etc.

It's easier than ever to ignore these 30fps focused games. I'll just play them on Ps6 or hopefully PC in the future, with the added bonus that they'll probably be fully patched and with all the DLC for like $20.

Yeah this game brings my RTX3080 to its knees. Almost feel sorry for subjecting my card to this kind of torture so i just don't play the game lol

Call me stupid then cuz i have no problem with it.

I will get my monies worth i know for a fact.
The ps3's problem wasnt just the price but the lack of games or quality of games compared to the 360. It was not worth to buy at least for a year. Thats when i bought it.
The PS3s problem was entirely the price, it was $1,000 here on launch and they got smashed by the 360 for that reason solely and being late to launch.

There was no difference in graphics at the time for CoD & FIFA if anything 360 had the advantage and was cheaper.

WTF are you talking about, most of the footage you linked is with path tracing that PS5 Pro version isn't even using (at least in 60fps mode)...

High settings with 2560x1440 as a target with DLSS balanced (pretty much the same resolution as PS5 Pro version):

My 3080ti is 35% faster than Pro but nowhere near 4090...

This is with path tracing. PS5 Pro version doesn't seem to use RT in 60fps mode.

Pretty much confirms this resolution...
I don't think he confirm anything. Alan wake is known for heavy on GPU, so low internal resolution is to be expected.

If anything, this post reassure people that image quality will be fine on the Pro.

Now, how do they do that? obviously, sub 1080p up scale is not optimal, so Increase res is the only way. My guess is the final internal res will be somewhat close to 1080p, and I don't think it hard to achieve it. As for the suprise, maybe path tracing at 30 fps?

If the baseline resolution ends up the same on Pro and OG, they either boosted the FX, and/or the FPS is more stable. It seems to me that getting the 45% raster increase should be very straightforward.

Everyone will judge this as bad before realizing title is only referring to internal resolution, if you get that far. Kinda incendiary headline.

Remedy: "Not that I'm confirming anything"
You: "Pretty much confirms this"

Ok buddy go to bed before you give yourself an aneurysm.

"image quality matters more than resolution"

If this game was 1080p or more internal res compared to what DF reported he would have said this.

I also love that they care about image quality now when on the base consoles AW2 has absolutely terrible IQ with FSR2 - and they were ok with this!

We're in a weird episode in tech. I mean, in the PS360 days we just cared for HD games, even thou probably less than half of the games were 720p internally, and a lot of those games played like PS2 games. Today we have all this crazy shit running behind, animations and AI on NPCs, and the internal resolution can't achieve much more than FullHD internally

Even with digital movies/series we have all this codec stuff to achieve 4K, and we can see that those streamings doesn't really have all the 4K shit for real. Just compare those ads that you see in showrooms, like the LG one, and you see that other stuff are not that good looking

We care more for how the content runs, or can do, than the resolution per se. Someday we will achieve for real, but since we can have photorealistic stuff now, eh

I would take any video from DF with a grain of salt. They speculate a lot, with subjective conlusions.

They seem to me biased against both Sony and Xbox games. There is clearly an agenda in their video reviews. Some say they are on the payroll of Nvidia and so their videos are anti console.

I am waiting to see objective views of what other techies say about the console performance AFTER it's launched.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
I would think Gaf members would better understand what AI upscaling is.. I’ve read so many cluess comments here that I really don’t know if they are trolling or being just ignorant..
I can't really comment on Alan Wake 2 and what it looks like running of PS5 Pro, but I doubt Developers are going to push higher resolution then they need to, a 1080p or even 1440p render may not make any difference in the end result.
But this maybe a quick switch of upscaling methods because PSSR is better and they ain't messing around with anything else like they would if they developed the game with PS5 Pro in mind.
And I think it's the latter.
