Just noticed the Wilhelm scream when you kill this thing in Aim for the Eel.

Don't know why, but this struck me as being far more funny than it should be. What is that thing anyway? Carrot?

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
So guys, you prefer Rayman Origins or Legends?

I like Legends but there's a lot of stuff that don't seem to be exactly useful (well, I just started) like the Creatures.

Into the final stretch now, just Sea of Serendipity and the Himalayan world's Teensys left.

Origins. The levels felt more alive and the songs were better. Plus I think they knocked down the difficulty for Legends, might just be me getting used to it though.

It was over too quickly, I thought the game was going to have quite a lot of music levels. They should've made like 25 unique ones.

I will pay $15-20 for a digital Rayman game that is just Music levels!

Heck how about making a Sonic game based on the RL Music level concept? A short simple game for like $10-20 would be good.

I've been completely misinformed up till now about how the PS360 versions of the game handle the Murfy stages. Thought you basically played as Rayman and had an AI controlled Murfy escort you (which would be awful). The reality of it sounds way more fun, and actually quite a bit more interesting than controlling Murfy like on Wii U / Vita.

I'm pretty darn disappointed Ubi didn't give Wii U and Vita players the option to do the Murfy stages as on the other versions. Bad oversight.

Indeed, there are a couple instances where having control of the character would save me considerable amounts of wasted time replaying a section in such a way where the AI is inclined to grab the goddamn lums he is seemingly just pretending arent even there.
In the cookie cutter duck stage if you make the hole just low enough where the AI can fit under the lum they won't even consider jumping.

Frustrates me to no end.

There are so many "points of no return" with the touch levels where if the AI is juuuuust in front of a balloon that was initially to high to bounce him into a secret area he won't even consider going back if you pull it down. Even if the way forward is completely blocked. He will just stand there.

I need a friend to play as him....

I would pay 60€ for a retail release of this (however, I wouldn't pay for a digital release). I think it would be a great idea for a new Rabbids game actually. Rayman could then move back to 3D :D.

I'm coming to the realization that the original basis for this game being on Wii U has really damaged my enjoyment of the game. The Murphy shit just completely gets in the way of me having a great time. Every time he pops up I'm just not having as much fun anymore.

Thanks Nintendo!

Is it Nintendo's fault that Ubisoft decided to port this game to other platforms that do not support the incredible multiplayer?

Fuck 3D platformers. They are the worst.

What is wrong with 3D platformers? Imo Rayman 2 is the best thing Ubisoft has ever put out and is incredibly close to Nintendo's and Rare's platformers. If it wasn't for Rare it would be my favourite game developed outside of Japan.

Everything?

They just suck. Yes even Super Mario 64 doesn't even compare to 2D Mario games.

2D > 3D if we are talking platformers. If Rayman goes back to 3D I will not play it. I just replayed Rayman 3 HD last year and boy...

Hard to argue with that, considering there are not many points in there ;). However, Rayman 3 definitely was not that great, I consider it the worst Rayman game. But since there really are a lot of 2D platformers and next to no 3D ones, I still think it's reasonable to wish for a 3D Rayman.

There is nothing to discuss, you are correct on that. Because there can only be one correct opinion about this. 2D > 3D

I'm half joking you know.

I beat the game (minus 100%-ing the Back to Origins levels) yesterday. Really loved it, but I do think that Origins was better. The best parts of Legends were the Invasion levels, the Quicksand levels, everything about 20,000 Lums Under the Sea, and surprisingly the Murphy levels (on WiiU).

I think that Origins is far and away the superior game, but that is mainly due to the fact that it has so much more content and much better music (though the music in Legends is excellent itself, it just pales compared to the original's IMO as I posted earlier). The levels are longer and more robust, too, which is very apparent since you can play levels from the two back-to-back within Legends itself.

What I have learned from these two outstanding games is that I would pay any price for a full-fledged Rayman game that contains nothing but Treasure Chest Chase levels, Quicksand levels, and Invasion levels. And a Land of the Livid Dead world. I love the difficulty and skill required to complete these. When those levels hit, its like the game becomes a combination of a platformer and a racing game.

I was surprised to find that I didn't like the music levels at all. They were all so incredibly easy.

Final thought: I was pissed as hell when the delay happened, but now that I have finished the game seven months later and still think that it was way too short, I really can't imagine how bare bones it would have been if it had released back then. I don't know how sales would have differed, or what would have ended up being better for Ubisoft, but I think that the game itself would have been a big disappointment if it had been released as originally planned.

Do you think it's too short even when you factor the included origins levels?

I bought this game for my nephew (WiiU)
God damn, we had so much fun. We 100% the first set of paitings. What pissed me off was the levels where I had to play with the touchscreen. I'm a better player than him (more coordinated obviously) and it was painful to keep watching him fail and with me doing nothing that pressing everything in the levels.

But fun, I wish this came out sooner

Don't really think there is anything surprising about it. I really think those who don't like the Murphy levels on Wii U and Vita actually don't WANT to like them. They are fresh, fun, and add a new mechanic into the game.. And the primary complaint against them is almost always "but I don't want a new mechanic added to the game.. waaahhhhhh"

So glad Ubi stuck to their guns on those levels for Wii U and Vita.

Definitely not, and it's definitely a massive bonus for those who never got the chance to play Origins. And for everybody, really. But for me personally, as an owner of Origins, I don't count them when giving my thoughts on Legends itself. Think of it this way: if Mario World had half as many levels as it ended up with, but included the All-Stars version of Mario Bros 3, it wouldn't affect my opinion on the lack of "new" Mario World levels.

For sure. I was expecting to dislike them as I am a huge fan of pure platforming, and I figured that they would get in the way. Plus I was kind of bored by the one in the demo. But I would buy a full game consisting of Murphy levels.

I've just got 1 more Teensy from Sea of Serendipity and then another few levels from the Himalayan bit to go.

I've read that the invasion levels were added after. I'm going to guess that Back to Origins levels were as well, maybe someone can correct me.

I think the game is quite long, it's just we've been playing through it so fast we haven't noticed it properly.

Totally agree on a whole game (or just more levels) that are rush style. I remember people were saying that back when Origins was new as well.

Its been implied What the Duck and at least one of the bosses were also post-delay additions

I think I liked Origins better. I still have about 10 invasion levels to go to complete the game though. The last boss lacked platforming which is sad and the main grip I have. Legends is also short if you take out the Origin levels. I also like a overworld that allows for a path of progression as Legends lacked. I liked the added Murphy levels on Wii U and it really adds some fun on challenge levels. I wish they would have done more with the online challenges and have leaderboards for timed runs/lums on all stages. Its still a great game though.

700/700. No idea how I did that, when I first saw the total count at the start of the game I thought no way I'd do it. Just got a few Lum Gold's to get but I sure feel mighty Rayman'd out. Took me 10 days, would've loved to know my game time (I'm guessing 20-30 hours).

Didn't even finish Origins 100%.

Also was the last Back to Origins level (the boss) a new addition? Because I don't remember it at all.

So, Murfy is a Nintendo IP?

Murfy's been around since Rayman 2:

Rayman 2 is an amazing game, and I'd love to see Michel and friends work on a new game in that particular style. The less said about Rayman 3 though, the better.

I think the touch controls Murfy levels work best. Playing the QTE one feels shoehorned in. The platforming feels more shallow and not really natural. The original design feels more natural like a puzzle.

I was disappointed by the touch controls at first, but after playing some levels and growing into it, I'm starting to appreciate the design more.

Fucking hell man. My gold cup achievement glitched. I got bronze, silver and diamond but not gold.

Also no the boss was not new. This was the last boss in Origins in the Land of the Livid Dead.

So I downloaded Jungle Run last night.....why didn’t anyone tell me it was this awesome!? O:

Between Jungle Run, Origins and Legends I’m seriously in love with Rayman at the moment!

Some may call me crazy, but I think I prefer it to Killzone, and I am really enjoying Killzone. But that is how much I dig Legends. It is that good.

I haven't gotten Killzone yet, but I played the beta and it was pretty.

Legends is some type of drug induced, living, coloring book.

Except there is no need for drugs. It's just gorgeous.

I finished it a few days ago (PC version). Still have a couple music levels and about half of Origins left, but I'll take those slowly.

I have the same two main complaints as in Origins
1. Wonky physics
2. Checkpoint system is way too lenient

It's still a great game, but I wouldn't consider it a top tier platformer because of those.

Origins was definitely better overall. I prefered the more cartoony graphics and the music as well. This game was easier, aside from the dark Rayman invasion levels there was not much challenge. One thing that was better on Legends are the secret rooms.

Murfy levels were ok, some added interesting things, other like the one you had to eat cheese were way too annoying without touch controls. But it's probably much better than having the AI control the character.

I liked 1000 Lums under the Sea as it introduced new stuff like stealth and maze levels. Something this game needed more of as it was too samey with Origins.

As a final thought I felt there were too many "auto-running" levels/sections. Maybe I'm remembering Origins wrong but the balance was much better.

I finished the main set of levels (on pc) and am currently working towards getting 100% of everything, my thoughts:

The Positive:

-The game feels amazing to play. My favorite change to the movement is that attacking in the air doesn't grind you to a halt anymore.
-All the princesses are playable characters, some of them are plenty sexy but there's none of the ridiculously proportioned fairies from origins. Barbara is da bessss.
-Lum collecting is completely optional now, which is pretty big as far as speedrunning implications go. I haven't exactly explored speedrunning the game, but collecting lums in origins made it pretty daunting for me.
-The bee shmup levels are replaced with the fist shooting powerup in the main levels, which is far more fun.
-20,000 lums under the sea introduces some really cool pseudo stealth mechanics
-invasion levels are fuuuuuuuuuun. I can't stop trying to beat my best times.
-The music is utterly fantastic and the game is gorgeous to boot

The negative:

- Unfortunately the overwhelming extra content seems to have left the main levels feeling rather underdeveloped. Once you finished the main worlds in origins it opens up more complex levels that make use of all of your abilities (wall running, shrinking, etc) concurrently. Once you finish the main levels in Legends the game just "ends" and you get the credits. Invasion levels are great but they are no substitute for the amazing final world of Origins.
-The music levels are catchy and all, but once the novelty wears off it's all too automatic and restrictive. Going too fast in these levels will get you killed more often than not. I would much prefer the music to bend to your movements than the other way around. The normal autoscrolling levels don't generally have this problem, you can go as fast as you want.
-The origin levels are nice but they take too many of the bee shmup levels and not enough of the good ones. I haven't done all of them yet but it seems like the final world of origins is in there intact though so that's nice.
-Not enough levels that make use of sliding, it's too fun.
-I was a huge fan of the king lum segments of origins, kinda sad that it's gone.
-Barbara has to be unlocked :( if I ever decide to try to speedrun the game I can't use her.

anyway game is great, buy buy buy buy buy

I have this game for the Vita. While it's great, my only grap is when you're controlling Murfy (sc?), the flying fairy creature. Once you control him, you lose all control over the main character. This can lead to some annoying sequences such as missing a secret room (so you would have to replay the level multiple times to collect all the Teensy).

Damn that's a shame, but hey at least you know you did it :).

Ahhh that was my second thought. I never completed Land of the Livid Dead. Unlocked it though.

Wonky physics? Interesting.

I actually think they feel really good and allow for very quick and precise actions. Certainly much better than, say, Donkey Kong Country Returns, which never quite felt as natural to me (though it's still excellent in that regard).

Agreed, needs to be more like the original Rayman, at least have a setting for it or something.

Same. They should've had both styles in the game.

What do people think about the lack of bubbleising from enemies? I remember with Origins I was annoyed at having to hit the enemies a second time for Lum collection, but I kind of missed it in Legends.

Who else think this game has zero replayability in single player?
I got mostly Gold and 8 out of 10 blue things in every levels on my first run.
I don't feel the need to look for every nook and crannies. The Murphy's levels are not fun to replay as well in single player.

This game is God Tier 2D platforming.

All this talk on here of it being too easy is making me feel inadequate - I'm struggling to get 100% even on some of the Toad Story levels! I never played Origins though so I'm not as experienced as some.
