Lightning Returns: FINAL FANTASY XIII (Steam) releases December 10th, supports 60 FPS

I'll admit it:

I loved the XIII Trilogy.

We went from The longest hallway RPG simulator in gaming history to effectively the spiritual sequel to the Chrono series in just a few years. The trilogy really shaped up and got WAY better as it went on, imo.

I wouldn't hold out any hope that the year long delay fixed the inherent engine problems in this game that all the XIII/Crystal Tools games suffer from. LR will probably be worse than XIII-2.

Ya'll shouldn't be surprised on launch day, but it's plenty alright to be extremely disappointed.

I guess that's one way to look at where the games went. lol

To the scarlet streak of light
To the one that breaks the silence
You illuminate the night
In most awe-inspiring ways
Sent up from high above
A name like a precious poem
Let me sing this song to you
Gracious savior of our souls

It'll be nice if they go back and fix the ports of XIII and XIII-2 so that Xbox one controllers work properly with it on windows 10

I am curious about this with people saying the battle system is good. As long it's not a bad port and not 50GB because they included 3 copies of the cutscenes for different languages I'm in.

You can preorder the game on Green Man Gaming with the code INDEED-INDEED-INDEED for a 20% discount.

Can't wait to finish this game again on PC. Hopefully the framerate will be better than XIII-2.

REALLY don't like this game, but I'm all for Square putting all of their titles on PC. It's a good trend that I want to see continue.

I enjoyed this game a lot more than my friends thought I should have.

That being said the over saturated negativity this game received I feel is really unjustified.

This is a really fun game, the combat is amazing, and so is the way you make Lightnings Schemata Builds.

Bosses are challenging, varied environments and enemy types, AMAZING soundtrack I love the mood the songs set.

Story is probably the weakest element here, all you really get is the intro and the end.

It has HIGH replay value, and I will double dip myself.

This, this, this. Went in with zero expectations and had a blast. Amazing battle-system, great music and it doesn't take itself so serious. Some actually charming side-quest stories and quirky characters, though pretty janky at parts. Just ignore the non-sensical story.

I even started New Game+ soon after finishing it, which I almost never do with games. Played until the final boss in the same day in one session because I couldn't stop again :D The battle-system is just so fun for me. Don't know why, it just hits the sweet spot for me with its mix of real-time and menu-driven. Can't go back to normal ATB anymore, bores me to death.

Sadly 60fps won't fix the game's other problems which is pretty much everything else aside from the battle system.

Heck yes! I'm so happy that you guys get to play this game. I loved it so much on the PS3, GOAT ending FMV for a FF game. If anyone has video footage of the steam version running at 60fps, please share!

Cool, good to know I can pick this up on PC eventually. I still have to beat XIII and play XIII-2, so I'll wait til it's ~$10.

If the game is anything like 13-2, it might have leftover assets in the code. Some modders will forcefully unlock it like 13-2's N7 and AC DLC.

These leftovers as far as I remember were eventually forcibly removed and had to be reinstalled back in, if they're smarter this time around the content may be cut altogether.

That's actually nice to hear. I pretty much forced myself to finish XIII on the 360. Still no idea what the hell really happened story wise.

I have XIII-2 on the PC and it seems much better but plays at like 10-15 fps on my 980ti so I can't really play it...

I enjoyed this game the most in the XIII trilogy but I think I'm in the minority...

It was simply the most fun to actually play.
