Rayman Legends |OT| "It's a bit like a porno" (Michel Ancel) WiiU/360/PS3/Vita/PC

No invasion levels no buy. That is seriously some bullshit.

And I say that mostly because the time trials on Origins were a lot of the fun I've had with the game. Infuriating when I mess up, but a ton of fun racing the clock. Not having that stuff is a huge dealbreaker because you aren't getting the full package. I hope they put them up as free DLC or something. Seriously disappointing and they've been so deceptive about it. I feel bad for people who preordered and are just now finding out they aren't getting the full package.

Any UKers order from Amazon? I put an order in two or three days ago, hasn't dispatched yet. I'm not too bothered because it's actually very cheap (like 26 quid for the 360 version) but it's pretty unusual for them to miss a dispatch date in my experience. Looks like they might have run out of stock and are getting more in today (the 31st) which is a good sign, right?

Actually had a similar experience with Payday 2 although they probably only stocked about 10 copies of that game.

Did play the demo on PC though, it's fucking rad. Hope those musical levels are as entertaining as WOOOOOOAHBLACKBETTY.
I ordered from zavvi and they still havent shipped.

I just finished the Legends content - took me about five and a half hours to do it all. Got about half silvers, half golds. Disappointingly easy - I can't remember a part of the game that really gave me a challenge. That said, I still enjoyed it, but it didn't quite grab me like Origins did.

I'll update OT with Vita levels once we get a confo, as it's quite important to know if Vita players will be missing something.

The one thing that keeps blowing me away about this game is the amount of variety on offer. At the stage I'm currently at, I can choose from a ridiculous number of activities:

• Regular levels (some with Murfy, some without)
• Invaded levels
• Music levels
• Rescue mission levels
• Origins throwback levels
• Daily challenges
• Extreme daily challenges
• Weekly challenges
• Extreme weekly challenges
• Kung Foot

...I mean, did I miss any? Even the daily/weekly challenges offer variety within, from the timed Lum collection "Dojo" levels to the get-as-far-as-you-can kind.

I don't know whether Legends is as long or as difficult as Origins, but there's always something fun to do.

Actually, the Vita version *should* be missing more than the Invaded levels (which are a big loss :-/). I went and checked and there are 28, each of which worth 3 Teensies, meaning it's one short of the vanished 85. On top of that, each of the 5 exclusive levels should also have Teensies, probably three as well, so the real number of Teensies missing is 100. I can't think of a way to make it add up, unless it's only missing a few levels from a world that is actually included in the game, like the unlockable one. Puzzling.

That's fine. Nobody is forcing you to buy it. If it's missing some of the game by not having 30 bonus stages that are 40-60 seconds long, I'm still going to get it., because I'm paying 1/3rd less than the other versions. Not happy about it by any means, but I'm still going to get it and absolutely LOVE it. The price to content ratio will still be larger on Vita than consoles.

If these are the Invaded levels, it's really a big loss imo, they are the most challenging part of the game and while you will only take 40 seconds on a successful run, the first run will likely not be a successful one. By the way, reading the 90 levels and 120 levels lines and remembering that each Invasion level nets 3 Toons, that makes 700-3*30=610 Toons. If there is one Toon for each bonuslevel, that would make 615 Toons. However, 3 Toons per Extra-level sounds more realistic, so we need 10 more Toons. So maybe one 10--Toons-level missing, too?

Any shooter levels like in Origins where you're on the back of that fly?

Those were my absolute favorite.

By the way how many Toons are there that you just get as a present from rubbing those cards? Maybe they were taken away from the Vita-version, too, which would potentially decrease the amount of content lost.

Stop It

Perfectly able to grasp the inherent value of the fishing game.

Indeed, the sheer amount of variety in this game is impressive.

I haven't played a huge amount yet (Got the game from the Ubishop because they sent me a £20 coupon for an earlier error, so paid £5 for the PC edition) but so far it's awesome. I just feel like stopping all the time to appreciate the effort put into the levels art wise, as the detail level is simply amazing.

Nine, as far as I can tell.

Boo! Was hoping it might be a case of Amazon not updating the item's status... but I'm not hopeful.

Enjoy anyway, my man! The more people that play these games the better. Origins is one of my favourite games of all time (probably a daft opinion but I loved it so much) so I think I will like this.

Bit rubbish for Amazon, they're usually spot on with game deliveries :( Hope it turns up soon for you dude, the game is awesome.

Completely agree, Origins is certainly one of the most enjoyable games out there imo, and so far Legends hasn't disappointed either :)

Are the Murphy stages on WiiU really bad? GS gave it a lower score because of that.
Depends on your taste I guess, as for myself I enjoy those more than the "normal" levels (and I enjoy them a lot)

Isn't it possible to play them like on PS360 with the classic controller anyway ?

So......no invasion levels for the Vita version huh? How many of them exist and are they good levels?

I’m not sure which version to get now. All these exclusive levels and missing levels all over the place!

I tried this game yesterday, extremely good and filled with contest.

I have a question though. We did co-op on the daily challenge. Do you compete alongside people playing with 1, 2 og 3 friends when you're playing the challenges alone? It seemed like it :s

It's 8.0 versus 9.0? This can only be... yeah, Tom McShae, the worst reviewer on this entire planet. I don't get why they always let him do the platformer reviews, let him do reviews for genres I don't like ;).

the invaded levels are the best stages for me by a mile,
they are the only ones that even come close to origins level of difficulty.
and judging by the screenshot,
there isn't enough space in between the main level paintings for them.(one invaded level for every stage)
they basically take each level and make them harder, way more fun, changing the layout/design.

All of the main stages are very easy and made so that anybody can get to the end of the game, the invaded levels are more fast paced, challenging,
and in my opinion easily the best thing the game has to offer.
I'd be very surprised if they left them out of the vita version.

actually on second thought, no i wouldn't..... it's vita after all
amazed that it wasn't mentioned in the reviews as for me it's the best part of the game.

Ugh....so lame. What are the chances of them being patched in?

And anyone know what the five exclusive Vita levels will be like?

I really wouldn't touch the game without the invaded levels,
Even with five exclusive levels, you'd be getting all the worst this game has to offer.
I really hope others who are playing can back me up here.
I've got nothing against the vita,
hell, the vita is the only version with a camera zoom option (something i would love)

but without the invaded levels this game would be a disaster.
the main stages have clearly been made with a younger co- op wii u audience in mind,
the difficulty has been tuned down drastically.

If ubisoft really has omitted them from the vita version then there has to be a really good reason why, maybe some nintendo contract left over from the exclusive deal?
sounds stupid but i can't think why else you'd cut out the best bits.

Got my steelbook edition reserved at HMV, going to trade in Mario U in a symbolic gesture of evolution. It's annoying that the challenge app community became the new Legends community, Miiverse is usually my judge of how well a new game is performing haha.

"Disaster"? I haven't played it, but I haven't seen one person use those words to describe this game.
Far from it.

I didn't say it was a disaster as it stands,
i said that without the invaded levels, it would be for me.

Once you actually play the game , you'll realise how good the invaded levels are.
they are, to me, the meat of the game. They are almost half of the new stages!
we aren't talking about 5 levels here, we are talking about close to half of the new game.

Really disappointing if the invaded levels are missing from the Vita version, the ones I've played so far have been some of the best levels in the game. Was considering double dipping at some point but that won't happen now :\

What a joke. I'd rather Ubisoft delay the game another couple months than release an unfinished game for Vita. There's no excuse for this cut content. If it's a time issue then delay Vita version again.

I already bought the game on PS3, was considering buying it on Vita when it releases but these 85 missing Invasion Lums are annoying. Speed trophies are the part I spent the most time on (and enjoyed the most) in Origins Vita. I'll probably wait for a price drop or sale, depending on how much I enjoy the missing levels on PS3.

(yeah, I'm on vacation abroad so I haven't even played the game, although it's already installed on my PS3 thanks to a combination of the webstore and Plus)

Also, I've said it elsewhere but if anyone wants to have more friends for PSN leaderboards, feel free to add me (Palette_Swap).

If they are coming in a future update or even being sold as $5 or $10 DLC I guess I'm ok.

If they are just gone for no reason or a BS reason it's harder to swallow. Vita version of Origins had everything other than multiplayer right? It's more than capable of handling things. My gut feeling says the people doing the port ran out of time and that sometime we'll get them.

I'll swallow the DLC pill too, but I need to know if they're coming before the game comes out! If they're not it's the PS3 version, but if they are then it's still the Vita version for me.

Who do we have to contact to get an answer about this?! This is pretty frustrating and the sooner we know what's going on the better. I need to know which version to buy! ;___;

I mean the DLC route makes sense. $60 for the console version but $40 for a Vita port with the same content? It makes sense they'd take some of it out and try to sell it as DLC.

You sir, are what's wrong with this industry. It already looks worse and probably runs at half the framerate. A fully featured handheld version has every right to be cheaper than the fully featured console game with the same content. Also in the UK the price difference betweent he Vita and PS3 versions is extremely small.

I'll only swallow a DLC pill if it's free DLC. If Ubisoft attempt to charge me for content that should have been in the game in the first place then fuck that I'm not buying the game. For any platform. I'll just wait for the PS Plus version since Ubisoft don't deserve any of my money for pulling off that kind of shit.

I completely agree, the invaded levels are the most fun and challenging levels. I breezed through the two main levels in the demo, but I felt compelled to master the invaded variants (which actually feel like completely new levels, just with the same "theme" as their siblings).

It is native resolution and 60fps, just like the console games.

Everyone here will kill me for saying this but this game would be rubbish without the invaded stages,
and in my opinion the game should have been called out for it's lack of worlds.
If a mario game or any other platform game was released with only 5 worlds, people would go crazy.
imagine mario ending at the forest world, sounds bad doesn't it.
people would flip tables, even if they included the last mario title in the new game.
rayman does it and people are fine, they all say it's the best platformer ever made.
and yes i said 5 world's, that sixth painting in rayman legends isn't a world.

there's a good reason why they included origins in this title.
The invaded stages help make up for a lack of worlds, and lack of difficulty.
But without them i would rip this game apart, even if it is artistically speaking stunning.
So if the vita version doesn't include them for any reason,
the game would, to me, be worthless and deserves to be slated.(even with a camera zoom option)

To be fair, you're one of the very few that hate the game (besides the invasion levels). Almost everyone loves it, and I haven't heard anybody else say the invaded stages are the only reason it's good. The game was clearly not for you, and that's unfortunate, but it seems to be the truth. The game only has five worlds, yes, but it has the challenge mode that changes every day/week that adds major longevity.

Basically, your opinion is of the extreme minority, which is why I'm not too worried about it.

Tizoc

Member
Yeah you just keep believing that and keep swallowing what they tell you to swallow. I guess Rayman Origins should have cut out a couple worlds to make things "fair".

Batman Arkham Origins doesn't have multiplayer on Wii U and some GAFfers have already posted it should be cheaper because of its exclusion.

Basically, your opinion is of the extreme minority, which is why I'm not too worried about it.

I do seem to be the only person that's disappointed.
You'll probably love it.
but to me coming from origins (which was close to being perfect)
i was expecting a lot more.
it has so much potential, but the lack of actual new content is what's annoying me.

And i don't count the daily challenge levels as being extra new levels.
almost all of them, even if they do change daily, are just stages taken from the 5 world's.
your just competing with other players for scores.

Again, everyone else here thinks that the game is one of the best platform games ever made so i wouldn't worry.
it's probably just me.
