NeoGAF JULY 2013 Pick-Up Post!! Show Us Your Gaming Goods + more!

Danny Dudekisser

I paid good money for this Dynex!
I've been playing obscene amounts of Project X Zone lately, and the two games it made me curious about checking out are SRT OG Saga: Endless Frontier, and Sakura Wars. The former is out of print and has been priced up into the stupid-sphere by the aftermarket, so I grabbed the LE of Sakura Wars So Long My Love for $30 instead.

Might be the right call to skip the SRT OG stuff. It's cool, but insanely repetitive... to the point where it gets painfully boring before long.

Heh, that's probably true. But what caught my attention are the characters. Haken and Kaguya seem like a fun odd couple. Plus I seem to recall that game had the anime fan-service heaped on pretty thick. Not worth the ~$100 aftermarket sellers are asking though.

For Sakura Wars, I always loved Gemeni's design. What pushed me over the edge was the theme music used for all the Sakura Wars teams in PXZ. Great stuff, and if I get a cool RPG in addition to the audio and visuals, that's just gravy.

Another epic Anime haul. Expect another next week including Porco Rosso on Blu-ray.

Can't believe I'm already at 100 of these on BD.

Some of the stuff that may confuse you is:

Claymore DVD Artbox
Darker Than Black DVD Artbox
Galaxy Express 999 2 Movie Box from Korea
Kids of the Slope homemade Slipcover and clear Amaray case.

my latest retro addition!

PC-Engine Duo R - Region-free (switch for cards is in the slot), new lens installed & RGB modded for XRGB mini goodness. i couldn't find my genesis model 2 AC adapter (same voltage) so im waiting on another from ebay, but i don't even have games for this thing yet, haha...

Amazing pickup!! I have a Core Graphx sitting at home and would love to get the interface unit, they're going for about $100 here in Tokyo.
Welcome to the NEC world, there's amazing games all over awaiting!

Theres a PC engine Turbografx 16 with cd rom addon and interface all boxed for 6500y in my local (Chuo Rinkan) Hard Off, or at least there was the last time i went in (a week ago), that i was highly tempted by, unfortunately if i bring another retro console home my wife would flip.

Hmm, I should check Hard Off more often. Unfortunately that's a bit far from where I am but I'll keep searching around.
That and probably 3DO and Wonderswan are the only retroconsoles missing from my wishlist.

I already posted there! I'll post my detailed history with my system one of these days. I have a nice little collection and have quite a few recommendations to make.

Where did you see that 3DO FZ10? That price is killer!
I hope it was Akihabara, I'm organizing a raid one of these days!

Chuo Rinkan hard-off, where are you located? If need be id be okay with picking one up for you and meeting up to swap funds for hardware so to speak? Or just pick one up for you and hold on to it till youre passing by sometime, haha

prices are a bit high, especially for a HardOff. The Famicom can be had for 2000 yen less in Akiba. And always be careful buying hardware in the bins, super hit and miss.

Makes me excited to get back! I will be landing in Tokyo in less than 4 weeks!

I love the Junk bins, most of the stuff works or just needs a good clean, or can be made working by combining parts of two cheap broken goods into one, its like a little adventure! - i dont really like akiba hard/book offs though, those places have been picked clean of rarities by people on holidays :(
Small city out of rach ones tend to have mindblowing selections

Ah yes, the one you were talking about earlier. It's a bit far unfortunately.
Thanks for the offer, if I can't find anything interesting I'll definitely visit!
No hardware purchases for the moment though, not until I sort out my finances :p

Not to sound like a dickbag but buying you one (while theyre still there) and sticking it in the cupboard till you have cash / are in the area isnt a big deal, heck if you decide you dont want it im sure id get some use out of it, haha

Besides, got a pay raise this month, now on 410,000y/month

That's an amazing raise, congrats! :D
There's no rush. I just got here and I'll be staying for at least one year, so there's plenty of time to find good deals.
Thanks anyway :)

Picked up Borderlands 2 a few days ago from Best Buy's deal of the day. I had the game before but sold it a while ago. I'm addicted once again, lol.

Mass Effect Trilogy was $20 at GoHastings a while back but due to shipping problems, I didn't get it till this month.

I've never played MGS4 but I'm glad I waited until this collection came out so I could just get everything.

Shin Megami Tensei IV....bought it on Thursday. Excited to dive into it this weekend.

I have the exact same wheel and frame... did you come into my home and borrow them? ^_^ I've had my frame for a couple of years and it's still going strong. Great pickup, you won't regret it.

hehe, sure hope mine lasts for a long time as well!

Those Patlabor boxes are so nice, thick and heavy in person. Good job on the pick up!

Yep, they're impressive editions; the last time I saw these movies it was on VHS...looking forward to rewatching them!

I've "upgraded" to a regular 3DS.

Seriously, the XL is a bulky, heavy piece of poo. It's unwieldy, and uncomfortable. Probably just confirmation bias, but I have been carrying the regular 3DS a lot more around with me, and consequently playing it a lot more.

i don't mind the size and battery life of the OG 3ds since i got a nyko battery for dirt cheap, but the one thing i really hate about it is the home, select and start buttons

$60 and comes with $25 gift card, Saturday is last day of sale. Skipped it last year so glad for a deal.

Also grabbed Borderlands 2 and The Orange Box on demand XBL for dirt cheap last week.

Final pickup was managing to get that stupid moneypak virus on my crappy porn laptop, lol refuse to look at it on my good PC. Curse you AVG you failed me gotta clean it up tomorrow...

I've actually had this poster for an absolute age. But it's been stored around the house for that entire time.
I believe I had no kids when I bough this. Now I have two... and one of them is six. I've moved house twice with this damn thing. So it's quite the acomplishment that it has survived for so long pre & post kids without being utterly destroyed.

What's new is that I actually got this thing framed & up on a wall!

Also painted & got new furniture for my office (I work from home)

What's the lamp called (brand/type)? Been looking for something like that. I think it looks gorgeous:).

Yep, it's pretty lovely. Cheap too! It's an Ikea FORSÅ lamp.

Wow, that looks awesome!

Thanks! It cost a fair bit to have it properly framed, but it's been waiting for so long I think it deserved it. Really love the way it looks. :-D Plus, gotta keep Gabens signature safe from my 2 kids!
